We hope this finds you well at the end of a challenging year. We are sending our annual report early as we have EXCITING NEWS TO SHARE.

In July of 2017, The Silverstein Foundation, in collaboration with OrbiMed, REGENXBIO and Dr. Asa Abeliovich, launched Prevail Therapeutics, a gene therapy company focused on developing novel biologic therapeutics for Parkinson's with GBA and other neurodegenerative diseases. Today it was announced that Eli Lilly and Company will acquire Prevail, establishing a gene therapy program and broadening its commitment to address neurodegenerative diseases. Prevail's clinical trials in Parkinson's and other diseases including frontotemporal dementia and Alzheimers are ongoing and the first patients have been dosed. We are grateful for the support of our generous donors and our tireless team, and proud of the speed with which Prevail was able to move from concept to implementation. We are confident that this acquisition will take Prevail to the next level, providing hope to those who suffer from GBA PD and other neurodegenerative diseases.

UPDATES ON NEW AND ONGOING INITIATIVES

  • Vanqua Bio, which was launched in late 2019, recently received two additional grants from The Foundation. The company is focused on developing small molecule modulators of lysosomal targets that have genetic linkages to GBA PD.
  • New companies are being formed and other approaches are being explored including stem cell therapeutics, neuro-inflammatory approaches, antisense oligonucleotides and protein degraders. We look forward to sharing more encouraging news in 2021.
