Principal's Message

The end of the second trimester is this Friday, February 27. Report cards will be sent home on March 12. It is hard to believe we are already entering the final grading period for the 2025-2026 school year! The final trimester of the school year is always filled with many exciting events!

Here are some additional notices/reminders/updates as we enter the final trimester.

  • February 28 is the final day to apply for scholarships for the 26/27 school year. This includes EdChoice, Catholic Education Foundation (CEF), and GA School/Parish funds.
  • All families are encouraged to apply for EdChoice.
  • Any family not receiving the full amount for the EdChoice scholarship should also consider applying for CEF funds.
  • All families utilizing the Jon Peterson Scholarship must apply for CEF assistance.
  • There is no school on Friday, March 13.
  • If you drop your children off in the morning, please arrive early to help the carline move as quickly as possible! Families arriving between 7:30-7:45 move quickly through the carline. For students to be seated before 8:00, all students should be dropped off by 7:55. Also, ALL families should use the carline. It slows everyone down when parents drop their children off.
  • All students may begin wearing shorts, and girls do not need to wear leggings beginning March 1; however, please be mindful of the temperature, as we will continue to go outside for recess!

God Bless,

Corey Stoops

Recognizing Our Amazing Teachers!

Everyone knows that Guardian Angels boasts some of the most amazing teachers and staff members! Each week, we want to recognize two of them and shower them with love and appreciation. This week we celebrate our 1st Grade Teacher, Kayla Hartzler, and our Director of Gifted and Enrichment Services, Donna Hacker.

Kayla is a cherished 1st-grade teacher who supports our youngest students in school. She is compassionate and calm, always assisting them in navigating challenging lessons or exploring their emotions. Her kindness and patience make her well-loved by the students. Thank you for nurturing our students!

Donna is truly exceptional, always ready to lend a hand and embodying the spirit of a true team player. Our students admire her for teaching one of their favorite specials, HALO Bell, where they explore robots, coding, and critical thinking. We are incredibly grateful for Donna's unwavering dedication to enhancing our students' experiences and her commitment to making a positive impact whenever needed.

Please join us in recognizing and celebrating these two outstanding GA staff members. You can leave a kind note here. Notes, cards, emails, flowers, gift cards, etc. are always appreciated!

Spelling Bee

Fifth grader, Will Hannahan, was our school competition spelling bee winner in January! Following this, he took an online assessment to determine if he qualified for the regional competition. Excitingly, Will qualified for the next round! This is quite the accomplishment. He will compete against other students throughout the Cincinnati area on March 7. Please join me in congratulating him and wishing him well!

Greg the Guardian: New School Mascot

Our new mascot was introduced to the school at our pep rally on Friday! Welcome, Greg the Guardian! This process started last year by students submitting their proposals for what the new mascot would look like during their art classes. Many of the concepts were then presented to an outside company who took the ideas and turned them into our final product of Greg the Guardian! Thank you to all the students who helped design, to Brian Kathmann who helped lead this charge, and to the Athletic Boosters for providing financial support of the project.

2026-2027 School Calendar

Our 2026-2027 school calendar has been formally approved and can be found through this link.

Extended Care Pickup Fish Fry Fridays

Due to the traffic for our Fish Fry on Fridays throughout Lent, the extended care pickup process will change. On Fridays during Lent, parents will need to park in the lower lot. Weather permitting, students will be outside until 4 pm. After 4 pm, preschool and Pre-K parents can pick up their children in the Old Gym by ringing the doorbell outside the doors closest to Beechmont. K-8 students can be picked up by ringing the doorbell at Bishop Rehring Hall.

Valentine Delivery to Local Nursing Homes

The Valentine delivery to local nursing homes was a huge success!! We had over 500 LED roses sponsored that 35 students and several parent chaperones delivered to local nursing homes. Residents were so happy to receive a rose along with a card from a GA student, and even happier to receive them directly from a student who engaged with them. It was a meaningful, heart-warming experience for all involved. Thank you to everyone who sponsored this class of 2027 fundraiser.

Graduation Date

Our 8th graders will graduate from Guardian Angels School on Wednesday, May 20th. Our awards brunch for the graduates and their parents will take place at 9:00 in the Undercroft. Later that evening, we will host our Graduation Mass beginning at 6:30 in the church.

2026-2027 Scholarship Applications Due February 28th

Catholic Education Foundation

The Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati is offering tuition assistance scholarships for the 2026-2027 school year for Preschool-8th grade students. Any family not scheduled to receive the full EdChoice scholarship amount for next school year should apply for assistance through this portal. This is the same portal that Guardian Angels also uses to determine award amount using our school/parish funds. Many families did not receive the full EdChoice scholarship amount due to family income being too high, already being on the Jon Peterson Scholarship, or another reason. The CEF, along with GA funds, can be used to assist these families.

To apply, families will need to fully complete a FACTS Grant and Aid application by inputting financial information (income, assets, and household income). FACTS then uses an internally built calculation to determine financial need based on the family's ability to pay. FACTS applications may be completed now and are due February 28th. For more information, click here.

EdChoice

We are now accepting EdChoice documents for the 2026-2027 school year for families of current students seeking renewal and initial requests for new students. Families will need to submit the following documentation to edchoice@gaschool.org.

  1. EdChoice 2026-2027 Renewal Form for any child currently receiving the EdChoice Scholarship.
  2. EdChoice 2026-2027 Request Form for any child not currently receiving the EdChoice Scholarship (new/initial application).
  3. Current utility bill (dated February 2026) showing a matching service and mailing address.

Please note that any signatures on your application must be a physical signature, not an electronic one, as per the state’s guidelines. Any applications with electronic signatures will not be accepted and will need to be resubmitted.

If you are renewing a scholarship from a previous year, do not fill out an Income Verification Form, unless you experienced a loss/reduction in income throughout the fiscal year. This will help maximize your scholarship amount.

All scholarship applications are due February 28th.

Stage crew is needed for the 2026 Spring Musical!

Students in grades 4-8 are needed behind-the-scenes for Mary Poppins Jr. Our first stage crew meeting will be Tuesday, March 3, from 3-4 in the Music Room. Students participating must be available to attend both performances of the show the evenings of Thursday, March 26, & Friday, March 27. Applications are available from Mrs. Leach or at www.gamusicboosters.org. Questions? Email Holly Leach at hleach@gaschool.org.

RSVP for Grandparents Day!

Grandparents Day is scheduled for March 24th and March 26th. In order to accommodate all our students and their special guests, we have divided students by last name. Celebration will take place from 9:30-11 a.m., including Mass and an activity in the Undercroft to follow. Students with a last name beginning with the letters A-M will celebrate on March 24th, and students with a last name beginning with N-Z will celebrate on March 26th.

Grandparents with grandchild who fall under both celebration dates should register for one Mass.

Great News for Anyone Who Pays Ohio Income Tax and Supports Guardian Angels

We have many students at Guardian Angels who benefit from scholarships provided by the Catholic Education Foundation (CEF). Ohio taxpayers who donate to the CEF may be able to claim a dollar-for-dollar, non-refundable tax credit on their state income tax return, up to $750 per donor. For more information, click here.

We hope you consider a donation before the end of the year and choose "Guardian Angels School (Cincinnati)(C00160)" from the drop-down when prompted.

Parishioner and tax expert, Brien Dulle, is donating. Here's what he had to say. "Supporting the CEF is a no-brainer for me for two reasons. As a graduate of GA that is also sending my daughters to the school, I want to invest in the education that our children receive. Secondly, there's no extra money out of pocket since I can claim a dollar-for-dollar Ohio tax credit."

Cafeteria Volunteers Needed

We are always in need of helpful hands to keep an eye on our students in grades K-8 during lunch. Please consider sharing a small part of your day to assist. All volunteers must be SafeParish trained. If you are interested, please sign up!

Partner with the PTA

Calling all local businesses and organizations! The GA Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is looking for community partners to help us create meaningful opportunities for our students and families. Consider partnering with the PTA as a sponsor or hosting a giveback!

Giveback: a pre-defined event set by the PTA and your company where we market your company to our community of families and encourage attendance and a portion of proceeds from sales at the company are given back to the PTA.

  • Examples: Restaurant night where a % of sales supports the PTA, retail shop donating a portion of weekend sales, service-based business offering a special PTA promotion.

Sponsorship: a strategic partnership with the PTA where a company provides financial support in exchange for visibility and brand promotion at highly attended PTA events!

  • Benefits may include: your company logo placement on event signage and flyers; recognition in school newsletters and social media; direct connection with hundreds of local families.

How to Learn More/Express Interest:

  1. Fill out this survey (https://forms.gle/M3eTtvB6uRPmdX2a7) if you think your company would be interested in a potential partnership with GA!
  2. Questions?: Contact Emily Keller (eegreenwood@icloud.com)

We look forward to all we can accomplish together to support our wonderful teachers and the students at Guardian Angels!
