Celebrating a Year of Shared Success!

In the Classroom With Our 3rd HVAC-R Cohort

As 2025 comes to a close, we'd like to thank our trainees, instructors, partners, and staff for their contributions to another impactful year of workforce programming. Our instructional collaborations and employer partnerships made it possible to create meaningful opportunities for the students we serve, connecting our graduates with sustainable, high-growth career pathways that support economic mobility and positive community impact.

In 2025, we supported over 500 participants across multiple program types to upskill, earn certifications, and launch new careers in a range of social service and trades fields. We're excited to continue our work expanding access and support for career training in the year ahead!

The BIWTC Honored with 3 Awards at CEANY Conference

The BIWTC was thrilled to receive three awards from the Continuing Education Association of New York (CEANY) at their annual conference in Syracuse this past November! Awards included:

  • Outstanding Business & Organization Collaboration: Awarded to The BIWTC and New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) for the innovative Heating Plant Technician (HPT) trainee program, in which participants complete a 6-month, hands-on training in heating and hot water systems repair and maintenance. An impressive 95% of graduates are hired into NYCHA's workforce, earning competitive wages, union membership, and long-term benefits.

  • Outstanding Continuing Education Instructor: Awarded to Nito Mehra, heating systems instructor, for his exceptional ability to tailor instruction for learners at all levels — from beginners to experienced professionals — and for providing invaluable mentorship to apprentices.

  • Exemplary Non-Credit Program: Awarded to the BIWTC's Direct Support Professional (DSP) Program. This program offers comprehensive training to participants seeking foundational knowledge for a career supporting children and adults with developmental disabilities, and offers additional English as a Second Language (ESL) classes along with industry-recognized certifications.

These recognitions celebrated our center’s commitment to innovative workforce programming, impactful partnerships, and outstanding instruction to prepare New Yorkers for in-demand careers.
