A Mardi Gras Prayer

by Ashley Brown

God of gumbo, krewes, beads, and throw me somethin’ misters;

We pray you bless the people of this city,

Protecting those as they celebrate,

And ensuring the weeks ahead are weeks of peace, safety and joie de vivre.

As we enter deep gras and celebrate a season that somehow never got added to the liturgical church calendar, remind us that it is a spiritual practice to be in our community and to be in joy with one another,

and also, that not all the world is able to celebrate as we are, and that it is such a blessing that we have this time together - that others in our lives may be entering this season in pain, loneliness, uncertainty and fear.

Donations for SCAPC Nursery School Fundraiser

We are proud to share that SCAPC Nursery School is approaching its 75th anniversary! For the last 75 years, the Nursery School has focused on fostering a love for learning and providing support for families during their preschool years. To mark this celebration, the Nursery School warmly invites you to “An Evening Under the Stars” Fundraiser, hosted by the SCAPCNS Parents Club on Friday, March 20, 2026. At SCAPC Nursery School, learning through play is at the heart of everything we do. Our playground is much more than a place to run, climb, bike, and dig. It's an outdoor classroom where curiosity is sparked, confidence grows, and friendships form.

We are excited to begin reimagining our playground so it continues to serve children and families for generations to come. Whether or not you currently have a child in the Nursery School, your support helps strengthen a program that builds strong foundations in early childhood education. Every gift, large or small, brings us one step closer to our goal. Your generosity directly impacts the daily experiences of our children.

Families and local businesses are invited to support the Nursery School by participating in our 75th Anniversary Donor Banner, located on the playground. Please note that the deadline for some name recognitions is February 13th.

We are deeply grateful for the SCAPC community's support for the past 75 years. We are so proud of our history and even more excited about what lies ahead.

Thank you for considering a gift, attending our fundraiser, or simply sharing in our celebration as we continue building strong foundations and a lifelong love of learning. Thank you for your support!
