Principal's Message

Greetings!

When I think about the milestone of our fourth year as a school, I am filled with an incredible sense of gratitude and pride. For the first time, our school community includes students in all four grade levels, and our enrollment has grown to its largest size yet. But perhaps the best way to see what that growth truly means is through the photograph showing our student body gathered for Mass in each of our four years as a school (please click here to see a larger version of the photo).

Looking at the pictures of these four years together, I am reminded of just how far we have come - and how many people have helped make this journey possible. I see so much more than just an increase in numbers. I see students who have found a place where they belong. Students growing in their faith, discovering their God-given talents, developing skills for their futures, and becoming the leaders we hoped they would become when we first dreamed of St. Peter Catholic. Most importantly, we see our mission coming to life.

And your support is part of that picture. Every student represented in that photograph has benefited from the generosity of people who believed that St. Peter Catholic could make a difference.

Your support has helped us grow, expand our programs, and create opportunities that were not possible in our earliest years. Today, our students have more ways to develop talents, build friendships, and become leaders. New clubs and electives - including Performing Arts, Chess, Yearbook, Digital Photography, and Graphic Design - have joined Student Council and Campus Ministry, giving students even more ways to engage in the life of our school.

We have also taken an exciting step forward with the launch of our athletics program. Our Lady Guardians Volleyball team has already made history with the first athletic victories in St. Peter Catholic history. More importantly, we have watched students, families, faculty, and friends fill the stands to cheer on their classmates and build a true sense of Guardian pride. Seeing our students support one another has been one of the most exciting parts of this new chapter.

And that same spirit of community is carrying into our Inaugural Founders Gala, which is quickly becoming another milestone in the history of St. Peter Catholic!

The response from our donors, sponsors, families, and friends has been incredible, and we are deeply grateful for the support that is making this event possible.

We are especially excited to share that Archbishop Joe S. Vásquez of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston will be joining us as an honored guest, alongside honored guests, Bishop Brendan J. Cahill of the Diocese of Victoria, and Rudy Tomjanovich - Houston Rockets Two-Time NBA Champion Head Coach - 1994 & 1995 - making this inaugural celebration even more meaningful.

All of this momentum points to something bigger: St. Peter Catholic continues to grow into the school that was envisioned when we first opened our doors. We are developing young people who are growing in faith, discovering their God-given talents, preparing for careers, and learning what it means to be part of a community that believes in them.

None of this happens without you.

Your generosity has helped us build programs, provide opportunities, support our students, and create an environment where our young people can thrive. As we look toward the remainder of this school year—and especially toward the graduation of our first class of Founding Graduates—we invite you to continue being part of this remarkable journey.

Thank you for believing in St. Peter Catholic, for believing in our students, and for helping us Develop Their Skills. Live Their Faith.

With continued prayers and gratitude,

St. Peter - pray for us!

Peace in Christ,

Marc Martinez, Ed.D.

Health Sciences Pathway Update

Earlier this semester, we reached another exciting milestone for St. Peter Catholic as our first students in our Academic Career & Technical Pathway for Health Sciences began their in-person skilled training coursework at the Coleman Campus of Houston City College in the Texas Medical Center.

Through their dual credit courses, our students are gaining valuable hands-on experience while working toward a Level 1 certification—earning college credit and building skills that will prepare them for future careers in the health sciences.

As the first students to take this pathway, they are truly pioneering the way for future St. Peter Catholic students who dream of becoming the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Ready, Set, Next Pilot Program with Greater Houston Partnership

Since St. Peter Catholic opened it's doors, our school has had a great relationship with the Greater Houston Partnership, so we are very excited that St. Peter Catholic is a Founding Pilot Partner with the Greater Houston Partnership for "Ready Set Next" a first-of-its-kind AI-powered career navigation platform.

This pilot program with our student involvement kicks off in October for the 11th and 12th Grade students. There are more details in the section below about our role as a school in this important pilot program and what it means for our students and our school.

Built for Houston by the Greater Houston Partnership and powered by Pathful, Ready Set Next is designed to make it easier to discover opportunities, navigate career pathways and confidently take the next step.

As a Founding Pilot Partner, we're helping build the future of career navigation in Houston. Over the next few weeks, 30 of our students will get early access to the platform, where they will explore careers, education pathways, work-based learning opportunities, and receive AI-powered career guidance. Providing feedback that will help shape and improve the platform before it launches.

This partnership offers an incredible opportunity to help build a solution that addresses the real needs of the greater Houston regions for students, individuals, and the communities it serves. Together, we're helping create a more connected future where more people can confidently discover what's next.

We're proud to be among the first organizations to pilot a platform that expands access to opportunity and strengthens the connections between education, employers, and community organizations.

We look forward to sharing more as the pilot progresses and celebrating what's next together. To learn more about "Ready Set Next", visit readysetnext.com.

New St. Peter Statue

Through the efforts of our Catholic Identity Committee of the Board of Trustees, we have been blessed with a beautiful statue of St. Peter for the inside of our school building.

The committee worked with a generous donor to secure the statue, which arrived on campus last week and is now proudly displayed in the alcove of the main stairwell.

We believe this will be the permanent home for our new statue of St. Peter, providing a meaningful reminder of our Catholic identity and the patron saint who holds such a special place in the life and mission of our school.

In the near future, we will be acquiring a more fitting podium for the statue, along with a plaque recognizing and expressing our gratitude to the generous donor who made this gift possible.

Lady Guardians Volleyball Team Success

This year marks an exciting new chapter for athletics at St. Peter Catholic. Now that we have students in grades 9–12, our students are able to compete as members of an athletic league, giving them the opportunity to represent St. Peter as the Guardians in Girls Volleyball, Boys Basketball, and Boys Soccer.

Our Lady Guardians volleyball team has already made history this season. The team has been highly competitive and has earned multiple match victories—the first wins in the history of our new athletics program! These early successes are exciting milestones for our students and our school community, and they are helping pave the way for even greater success in the years ahead.

Just as exciting has been the school spirit surrounding the team. Coach Fran Rice shared:

“As the girls volleyball coach, it’s very exciting to hear their classmates in the stands, in the bleachers, shouting ‘Let’s go, Guardians!’ and ‘You’ve got this!’ We haven’t had that excitement at that level before, so it means a lot to the players—it motivates them to want to do better. All of those little things coming from their classmates are super exciting and super special.”

We are proud of all of our student-athletes who are helping build something new at St. Peter. As our athletics program continues to grow alongside our school, we look forward to many more seasons of competition, teamwork, school spirit, and Guardian pride!

Annual Board of Trustees Retreat

In late August, our St. Peter Catholic Board of Trustees gathered at the University of St. Thomas for our annual Board Retreat.

It was a meaningful and productive day of reflection, planning, and collaboration as our Board and school leadership continue working together to prepare for continued growth and an exciting year ahead.

A special thank you to each of our Board members for your time, leadership, active participation, and commitment to the mission and future of St. Peter Catholic.

Your partnership is instrumental as we prepare for a successful school year—and our Inaugural Founders Gala!
