Reminder from Ms. Kinney: Drop-off, traffic flow, and pick-up

In the morning, it is crucial that drivers follow the traffic flow map. The traffic flow map is attached for your review. The yellow arrows show the entry flow. Following this helps expedite the drop-off process and keeps the intersection of 112th and NE 65th open - allowing traffic to exit without causing a back-up. We are in a small residential area, and I know it can be frustrating to navigate. Unfortunately we’ve seen aggressive behavior and unsafe situations. School drop-off will always take time, please plan accordingly and follow the attached route. If we all take a deep breath and follow the rules, it will smooth out. Students should be drop-off ready – keep backpacks in the car and not the trunk and say your goodbyes quickly. In the afternoon cars have been backed up, which is typical for the first few days. We have many new families this year. Please be patient and safe. Please remember to not block private driveways if you are stopped on residential streets.
For 6th Graders: Those students who have not picked up their PE shirts can do so. They can pick them up from Sue Austin in the office (2 shirts per student).

Calling All ICS Parents: Sign-Up for Volunteer Opportunities

To indicate your volunteer interests for the 2021-22 school year, please complete the Volunteer Interest Signup Form.

To access this form, you will first need to register for an ICS PTSA account (if you do not already have one), and then log-in to your account. This is done on the ICS PTSA website. Once your account is approved (for new accounts only), log in, and click on the word "Volunteering" at the top of the page.

Returning parents: please complete the Volunteer Interest Signup Form even if you did so last fall. We do not use information from the previous year; instead, we create new volunteer lists each year with current information and preferences. Your interests will be matched to the committee chairs.

The Volunteer Signup Form will close on September 24th. Please know that volunteers play an essential role in our ICS community! If you have any questions, please contact the Volunteer Coordinators.
Math Competitions at ICS

The MAA AMC 10/12 math competition will be taking place in November 2021, and AMC 8 math competition will be in Jan 2022. These competitions provide opportunities for middle school and high school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. For more information about AMC 8/10/12, please visit Mathematical Association of America website.

ICS will be hosting the competitions in-person this year. You can register your student(s) online at PAST website (Communication, Forms and Documents, 2021-2022 Math Competition Registration).

Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) has some great resources for practice. You can find past exams and solutions for AMC 8, AMC10, and AMC 12.

If there are enough interests, the math club will be hosting sessions to get students better prepared for the competition. There will be volunteer opportunities as coaches and proctors at Math Club! Please contact mathclub68@icsptsa.org for questions or requests.

Thank you!
