Since 1990, the Michigan Hemingway Society has focused on the Michigan influence in Ernest Hemingway's work,
especially the Nick Adams Stories.

Our society holds an annual Fall Hemingway Weekend in Petoskey, MI
where the Nobel Prize-winning author
spent his boyhood summers.

Miami University Professor Emertius, Dr. Donald Daiker, teaches rousing mini-classes on Hemingway's
Nick Adams stories in Bay View, Michigan

Professor of English Emeritus, Miami University, and Hemingway Scholar Don Daiker writes in with highlights from his recent week-long mini class on Hemingway for the Bay View Educational Association:

Last week I taught a class in "Hemingway's Nick Adams Michigan Stories" for the Bay View Educational Association, and it was a very positive experience: eight of us who liked each other and liked to talk Hemingway. And Hemingway's fiction and life--most of our ten Nick Adams stories were at least in part autobiographical--provides lots of good talking topics.

Dr. Daiker notes that the experience was made even more powerful by teaching the stories in the very area where Hemingway had written about them. Sounds like he'll be back again next year - and we'll be sure to keep you posted on all the details!
