Jacquelyn Rembert, Synod Moderator 2025
In February, Commissioners travelled from the great states of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida to set sail on their new spiritual journey with the Synod of South Atlanta at Epworth by the Sea, St. Simons Island, Georgia.
Upon arrival, Commissioners were greeted by members of the newly elected Coordinating Committee as they prepared to take off on their new adventure that lies ahead, with a lingering question often and constantly asked by their new Moderator, “What would happen if we gave ourselves permission to do what God has already called us to do?”

Presbytery of Florida Celebrates the 20th Anniversary of
Florida Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
| | |
At their May 17 meeting, the Presbytery of Florida commemorated the 20th anniversary of Florida Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Network (FLAPDAN), welcoming FLAPDAN Executive Director Kathy Broyard as a special guest. The Presbytery is one of six in Florida in covenant agreement with FLAPDAN and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA), enabling them to be prepared to respond to traumatic events within their bounds during times of disaster.
As part of the celebration, the meeting attendees formed a “bucket brigade” to assemble disaster cleanup supplies in orange buckets for stockpiling at the Presbytery’s Dogwood Acres Retreat Center and Summer Camp (see more pictures on our Instagram page at: https://www.instagram.com/synodsouthatlantic). In addition to storing the buckets for future needs within the hurricane-prone region, Dogwood Acres also is prepared to house relief workers and utility personnel as needed after a disaster.
As we celebrate FLAPDAN’s 20th anniversary, watch this new video that tells of the growth and amazing partnerships that have made FLAPDAN a success!
