Dear FCS Families,
It's hard to believe we're already halfway through the fall semester and nearing the end of the first quarter.
October is a busy month as students continue to learn and grow and families connect with teachers during parent-teacher conferences. As a reminder, Friday, October 16th is an Online Learning Day for grades K - 12 and Monday, October 19th is a student holiday.
Thank you for your partnership and for the support you provide at home each day. Together, we're helping students thrive.
We wish you a wonderful October!

The First Nine Weeks: A Check-In on Your Child's Learning
The first nine weeks of the school year are coming to a close! This is a great time to celebrate your child’s progress, check in on their learning, and look ahead together. Whether your child is in elementary, middle, or high school, you play an important role in their learning journey.
| | | |
With the nine weeks coming to an end, students are finishing assessments, grades are being finalized, and report cards are just around the corner. Take a few minutes to review grades or teacher feedback together, celebrate areas of growth, and talk about what comes next. If you’re attending a parent-teacher conference, use the opportunity to ask questions, share what you’re noticing at home, and talk together about ways to support your child.
Five Simple Ways to Check In & Support Your Child’s Learning:
-
Review: Take a few minutes to look at your child’s grades, report card, recent work, or teacher feedback.
-
Celebrate: Notice one area where your child has grown, improved, or worked hard.
-
Ask: Try simple questions like, “What are you learning?” or “What are you most proud of so far this year?”
-
Connect: If you have a question or concern, reach out to your child’s teacher or bring it to your parent-teacher conference.
-
Set a Goal: Choose one simple, realistic goal for the next 9 weeks and talk about one way you can help.
Simple, everyday moments can make a meaningful difference in your child’s learning journey. A conversation, a question, a word of encouragement, or a few minutes spent reviewing their progress can help your child recognize their growth and feel supported. These small actions can build confidence, help your child feel ready for the next nine weeks, and allow you to be an active partner in their learning.
