As winter rolls on, the Patient Advisory Council (PAC) has been keeping busy with new member meetings and orientations. It’s always exciting to welcome fresh perspectives and strengthen our group with new voices.
One recent change we’re happy to share is that authorship of the “Peek at the PAC” article will now rotate among all council members, so you will see various co-author names from time to time.
As Myeloma Canada continues to serve the community in many new ways the PAC has developed new guidelines for how we conduct our regional meetings with the Support Group Leaders. The goal is to streamline the communication and assist us in better representing the patient voice to the Board of Directors. Our contributions take a high-level view. We look at broad healthcare issues, examine how they impact us as people living with myeloma, and ensure the Board is informed of that impact.
We have been asked by Myeloma Canada to provide input on the development of their 2027 Operational Plan by sharing our thoughts on the programs they provide, as well as several topics that affect us. It’s a great opportunity for all of us to collaborate and for ensuring that the patient voice continues to be at the table. We are happy to play a meaningful role in shaping decisions.
The PAC is also looking for two new representatives, one from British Columbia and one from Quebec, as Susan McLean and Manon Veilleux have both completed their terms.
