Our October meeting will take us to The Rouxpour, Memorial City Mall. We have two great speakers, Combined Committee Meeting and a Tech Session, allowing for 2 hours of CPE. The atmosphere will be relaxed with a little Cajun Flare!


A short cocktail reception with lite bites will follow in the Courtyard. 


Because of the format, EVERYONE will need to register. We have a strict space limit so please register early to ensure your spot.


Although we won’t be serving dinner, please feel free to make your own reservations at the restaurant for dinner on your own or with friends. And, for those adventurous souls, the Mall also offers Ice Skating!

Combined Committee Meeting


For October, we will have a combined committee meeting hosting Eric Heflin, CPA and owner of Yammm Software, a boutique consulting firm focusing on helping their clients achieve their reporting and automation goals. Eric will go over the use of PowerBI in financial reporting; this presentation will be primarily live demo, so you definitely don’t want to miss it!


Eric studied accounting and finance at Texas A&M University before working as an auditor with KPMG. Eventually moving on to industry, he held various roles in financial reporting and corporate finance for mid-size oil and gas companies.

Technical Session


Our Technical Session will feature Bill Shanahan with Energy Rogue to discuss market trends of natural gas. Bill Shanahan is a seasoned energy industry veteran with over 30 years of experience in asset development, operations, commodity marketing, transportation, and gathering.


Bill is a results-driven leader who has spearheaded the growth of companies, organizations, and small teams through his deep understanding of creating value for oil and gas companies. His negotiation and asset development expertise has helped him capitalize on value from brownfield and greenfield assets. With a track record of delivering economic results and keen insights into the industry, Bill is an asset to any team looking to succeed in the energy sector.

Hospitality Committee


Name Badges – We encourage everyone to keep and wear their name badge to every meeting. As an incentive, there will be a little something extra for those wearing their name badge to the October meeting! Hope to see you at The Rouxpour, Memorial City Mall on October 17, 2024.


If you’ve wondered how to meet and know more people more quickly at PASH, you should consider joining the Hospitality Committee. Helping with registration is a great way to put names with faces.

Education Committee

The Education committee held its October 3rd meeting. This committee meeting was focused on Education Day speakers for a possible Fall Education Day as well as the Spring Education Day.

 

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 7pm via zoom. We are looking for topics for the Spring Education Day. If you have any suggestions, please let us know.

Fall Virtual PASH Education Day

 

We are excited to host a Fall Virtual PASH Education Day on Thursday, October 24, 2024. We plan to have 5 hours of CPE available for this Education Day starting in the morning at 8:30am & ending around 3:00pm. 

 

The cost is:

$125 for members

$150 for non-members

The purpose of Education Day is to raise funds for a scholarship program where we give back to local colleges and universities in the form of scholarships and grants. Registration will open soon. Watch for another email blast.

COPAS Publication Drafting Team News


Due to COPAS leadership initiatives to reopen certain COPAS publications for review, rewrite, or consolidation, an opportunity for COPAS Publication Drafting teams has arisen! Have you ever wondered what it’s like to participate on a drafting team? Do you wonder whether you have the “credentials” to even participate? Wonder no longer!  


The PASH Education Committee is offering a virtual event Thursday, October 24th which includes a segment entitled “COPAS Publication Drafting Team Orientation and Open Forum Discussion” facilitated by Deb Retzloff.   


The session includes the following to provide you greater insight into what’s involved in participating on a COPAS Publication Drafting Team:

§ The importance of COPAS Publications and benefits to you by participation on a drafting team

§ Hear feedback from others who have participated on a drafting team and their ideas on improving the process and best practices followed that made it a rewarding experience

§ Obtain answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) pertaining to time commitment, qualifications, team composition and size, etc.,

§ Have an opportunity to surface questions regarding COPAS Publication Drafting Team participation

November 14, 2024 – Virtual Meeting – Save the Date


As requested by many, our November meeting will be held virtually. Actual times of the presentations may change, so please watch your newsletter for final scheduling. 


Jake Whitley with Whitley Penn LLP (hosted by Financial Reporting) and Dan Romito with Pickering Energy Partners (hosted by the BOD) will be our speakers. 


This event will be advertised COPAS wide. We could be hosting members from all 23 societies, so let’s show them how it’s done.

SMALL COMPANIES COMMITTEE


The PASH Small Companies Committee will be hosting a lunch meeting November 19th 11:30 to 1:00 at Federal Grill 8731 Katy Freeway. Our speaker for this event is Crawford Moorefield who will be presenting on tax-efficient strategies for small companies in the Oil and Gas industry. We will be sending out calendar invitations soon to members currently on our roster. If you are not sure if you are on the roster and would be interested in attending, please send an email to pash@melton-melton.com
