Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive

The feature documentary Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive follows the two-time GRAMMY^® Award-winning icon through a journey of resilience, faith, and reinvention. Known around the world for her disco anthem “I Will Survive,” Gaynor has inspired millions for decades, but only truly embraced the meaning of her own words after facing profound personal and physical challenges. This intimate film captures her transformation as she steps into a bold new chapter as a gospel artist.

The film has received critical acclaim with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score and has already been honored with the Audience Award at the Nashville Film Festival, Best of Fest at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, and Best Feature Documentary at the LA Femme International Film Festival. It has also screened at the Tribeca Film Festival and the Pan African Film Festival.

Variety praised the film, noting that “there are more than a handful of powerful moments in the film to reinforce the triumph of the documentary’s title,” while Forbes described it as “proof that the book of life can have a second chapter … and a third and fourth and more.” Billboard called it “a sublime take on the 79-year-old artist’s comeback journey,” People Magazine declared that “Gloria Gaynor’s story will inspire women everywhere to never give up,” and Black Girl Nerds said the documentary “proves faith and resilience transform dreams into reality.”

The film and Gaynor herself continue to inspire audiences with themes of perseverance, inclusivity, and self-discovery. As Movieweb described, Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive is “an inviting battle cry about the power of survival against the odds, reminding people that it’s never too late to reinvent yourself.”

“I am finally at a place of joy and self-fulfillment, and I am ready to share my secret to not only 'surviving but thriving' with the world.” - Gloria Gaynor
