You’ve probably driven by the little blue cottage on Central Avenue in Edgewater, hundreds of times, and wondered “what are they doing back there”? Owner and local Edgewater resident, Andria Chiaramonte first opened The Painted Cottage Edgewater, MD on September 7, 2014, with the dream of creating a place for her community to find joy in shopping and a happy place work environment as well. Upon entering the doors you realize this isn’t what you imagined. The staff welcomes you in and makes you feel like you've been transported to your favorite vacation destination even though your just minutes from home. Their original offerings focused mostly on new and upcycled home furnishings. Fast forward 7 years later The Painted Cottage has evolved into an award-winning upscale boutique featuring carefully curated gift items, on-trend clothing & jewelry. The Painted Cottage has proudly become a destination to bring visiting friends and family for a shopping adventure.
One year ago The Painted Cottage was faced with the unthinkable. COVID closures created an unprecedented situation. In response, procedures for entry were enacted, hours of operation were adjusted, and a new website was launched. Thanks to a very dedicated staff and the community's overwhelming support, The Painted Cottage survived and a new reimagined “Happy Place” to shop and work has emerged. With the support of the local community, The Painted Cottage is a thriving small business with a strong local and national presence capturing the heart of South Anne Arundel County.
