Have a Seat at the Table: Serve Your Community
Looking for a meaningful way to serve your community? The City is recruiting for two vacancies on our Boards and Commissions:
-
Civil Service Commission: An unexpired term, expiring October 1, 2029. As a member of this three-person commission, you will help shape personnel rules for the Lacey Police Department and hear Civil Service appeals.
-
Historical Commission: An unexpired term, expiring September 13, 2029. As a member of this seven-person commission, you will help guide the creation of public education and interpretive programs, encourage preservation of items and properties of historical significance, and review nominations to the Lacey Register of Historic Places.
Applicants for both vacancies must live within Lacey city limits or the Lacey Urban Growth Area. Not sure if your address qualifies? Visit the Do I Live in Lacey map to check.
To help reduce barriers to participation in government and increase representation, the City’s Advisory Board members are eligible for a $50 stipend per meeting, up to $500 per year. This aims to offset expenses for participating on an advisory board, such as childcare coverage during meetings, transportation to and from meetings, internet access for meetings, and other direct financial impacts.
How to Apply
Ready to apply? Submit your application online. We will complete the first review of applications within 30 days.
Questions? Contact the City Clerk’s Office at 360-491-3214 or CityClerk@CityofLacey.org.

Clean Water Starts with You:
Source Water Protection Week
Sunday, September 27 – Saturday, October 3, is Source Water Protection Week! Lacey relies on 20 wells drawing from three underground aquifers to provide safe, reliable drinking water. Since 1995, the City’s Wellhead Protection Program has worked to prevent groundwater contamination and protect this vital resource.
Here are a few ways YOU can make a difference at home:
- Limit pesticides and fertilizers used for lawn and yard care.
- Choose natural cleaners like vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice.
- Do not flush medications; drop off expired or unused medications at safe collection sites.
Learn more on the Source Water Protection Week webpage.
