| News to Know: Virginia bill would overhaul vape shop oversight | |
"Legislation headed to Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger would give officials more tools to crack down on vape shops, the state attorney general said this week.
Why it matters: These shops have proliferated across the state, and some are selling illegal vape products, including to children.
State of play: The Vape Enforcement Act, which overwhelmingly passed both chambers of the General Assembly this year, would shift oversight of tobacco sales, including vapes, from the Department of Taxation to the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority."

| April 29: Fentanyl Awareness Day | |
April 29 is National Fentanyl Awareness Day, which is a national day of action, reflection, and education aimed at combating the rising number of overdose deaths caused by illicitly manufactured fentanyl.
Founded by the nonprofit Song for Charlie in collaboration with a wide coalition of partners, this day seeks to sound the alarm about counterfeit pills and the dangers of illicit fentanyl, which is now the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18-44. Nearly half of U.S. teens still don't know that fake prescription pills sold on the street, by unknowing friends, and through social media are made with fentanyl and other dangerous chemicals.
This Fentanyl Awareness Day, communities around the country are hosting awareness events, Naloxone trainings, and harm reduction efforts to try to educate the public and continue to save lives. Overdoses have been drastically going down over the last 2 years. Find or host an event in your community and be a part of the change!
