Hello Business,

Today is a Holy Day of Obligation in which we celebrate the Solemnity of The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The day we celebrate the glory of the Blessed Virgin Mary being with God at the end of her earthly life.

The twentieth week of Ordinary time offers us a continuation of last week’s readings, we learn that the mystery of Jesus offering His Body and Blood is at the heart of our eucharistic theology and our faith. Those who believe will have eternal life. These were hard words for many around Jesus to hear as they did not understand what was to come.

In the Old Testament reading we are encouraged to embrace a life of wisdom and understanding.

And St. Paul reminds us to watch how we walk in our faith, to give thanks and not be foolish.

Family Promise is a national organization founded in 1986 under the name National Interfaith Hospitality Network. They operate shelters all across the country with the intention of keeping families together through crisis. They provide a clean, dignified place to live as well as many resources to help the families get back on their feet and find homes again.

The Oregon chapter operates out of Tigard with a repurposed hotel serving as a shelter. The Resurrection community, as well as multiple other churches and non-profit organizations, work with Family Promise to provide it's guests with care, enrichment, and a hand up into a better, more stable life.

A Message from The Archbishop

I have been your archbishop here in Western Oregon for 11 years now, and I want you to know that through much consultation, a lot of listening, but more importantly, a lot of prayer, I believe the Lord has put on my heart a clear vision and mission forward for us here as the church in Western Oregon.

And it centers around three things:

1.      a strong and united brotherhood of priests,

2.      mission-passionate Catholic education, and

3.      parishes and a people formed to evangelize.

The Archbishop's Catholic appeal helps make this Vision a reality.

By giving to the ACA you have a direct impact on our priests, schools, parishes, and all the vital programs and ministries that we all depend upon to sustain the Catholic Church in Western Oregon for today and for future generations.

-Archbishop Alexander K. Sample

***We would like to thank the 91 donors from Resurrection, which have contributed to the Archbishops Catholic Appeal. Your support is appreciated.***

Knights of Columbus Council 13851

Brothers in Christ. Knights of Columbus Council 13851 is honored to assist Resurrection Parish and our Pastor, Father Bill Moisant, when the need arises! We do more than cook for several dinners over the year, although we do enjoy providing good food and fun to our Parish family.

All good works we do are guided by our four core principles: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism…with Charity being our main focus.

Our Catholic faith teaches us to “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” Knights recognize that our mission and our faith in God compel us to charitable action. There is no better way to experience love and compassion than by helping those in need—a call we answer every day.

Good men of our Parish: We can do so much more with your help! Please consider joining us by sharing your talents through helping us on our mission to do good works as Brothers in Christ. Sign up at www.kofc.org/joinus or scan the QR code below.

QCD

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows individuals who are 70½ years old or older to donate up to $105,000 total to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions.

RMD

Required minimum distributions (RMDs) are the minimum amounts you must withdraw from your retirement accounts each year. You generally must start taking withdrawals from your traditional IRA, SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, and retirement plan accounts when you reach age 72.

If you are over 72 years of age you qualify to take annual distributions from your retirement account to make tax free donations to charities of your choice.

Resurrection Church is a qualified public charity 501(c)(3) and can receive your QCD.

We thank you in advance for considering Resurrection Catholic Church and School as recipients of your donations.
