Greetings!
I thank you all for the opportunity to meet with you in your regions. I have longed to be truly “with” you throughout this Covid time, and to see our schools move to the next phase of the pandemic. Regardless of the phase we have entered now, we are somehow different, wiser, perhaps more realistic, and perhaps more cautious. In my conversations, I recognize how distinctly the month of January 2022 took an unusual toll on us all due to the overwhelming influx on virus cases, and our desire to follow the protocols even when the surrounding claims from all sides gave us their increasingly emotional opinions. You made it through, and we don’t know what is to come. We pray for “normal”, but more than anything, we pray for strength to be Jesus’ face, hands and voice. Know that all in my office, throughout the Chancery, in every Fulcrum Foundation meeting, we hold you in deep gratitude for your leadership. I reread a prayer/poem by Denise Levertov just recently, and for me, it speaks to our desire to be in right relationship and the tender embrace of God. We take the next step, and hope that we always speak and act from this place of love.
The Avowal
As swimmers dare
To lie face to the sky
And water bears them,
As hawks rest upon air
And air sustain them,
So would I learn to attain
Freefall, and float
Into Creator Spirit’s deep embrace,
Knowing no effort earns
That all-surrounding grace.
As always, you remain in our prayers of great gratitude,
KRISTIN DIXON | Superintendent
