Attend the Exhibit Columbus Design Presentations!
As we look to moments beyond our current times, it's with great joy that we announced the 2021 Exhibit Columbus Design Presentations, which will take place online Friday, March 19 and 26. This event is the next step forward in the 2020-21 cycle of Exhibit Columbus, which is exploring the theme of New Middles with curators Mimi Zeiger and Iker Gil.
The Design Presentations build upon the ideas presented in the 2020 Exhibit Columbus Symposium and prepare us for the 2021 Exhibition, which will open to the public on August 20. This is one of my favorite events of the year and it is free and open to everyone. I hope you'll attend!
During the four, two-hour sessions attendees will hear exhibition participants discuss their design concepts with community stakeholders, curators, and design experts. The themes for the four sessions are Ecologies, Geographies, Visibilities, and Possibilities.
ne of the things that makes the presentations so special is that we get to hear directly from some of the best designers working today, including the five J. Irwin and Xenia S. Miller Prize Winners, University Design Research Fellows, and Columbus' own High School Design Team. Each will briefly discuss their interpretation of their assigned site and walk us through the design concept for their installation. The installations create a unique lens that allows us to see into the past while imagining new futures, and ideas of what's to come here in Middle America. I think you're going to be blown away by the presentation and what people are getting ready to build.
