Business Profile

Many Hands Make Spa Expansion Work

MAITLAND - When real estate professional and entrepreneur Brandy Burns was contacted by the homeowner of a Maitland property to provide an appraisal before it was listed for sale, she arrived with a realtor’s eye. She walked through the home and grounds and immediately saw something more. The layout, the space and the peaceful rural setting felt like the ideal fit for her other business, Heavenly Touch Spa. With four acres of land offering opportunities for future wellness projects, Brandy realized this property held potential for business growth.

Brandy wasn’t actively searching for a new location for the business. "It wasn’t in the plan," she said. "I just knew this would be the perfect place,” she added. After taking over the spa from its original owner, she was continuing a strong foundation that had been built upon for more than two decades.

Heavenly Touch Spa is a holistic and organic spa offering personalized wellness services including esthetics, massage, facials, manicures, pedicures and more. The spa also features a curated selection of Canadian-made, vegan, organic and cruelty-free bath and body products, including the popular Eminence Organics skincare line, along with locally sourced candles and specialty items. Unlike medical aesthetic clinics, Heavenly Touch Spa focuses on natural wellness experiences designed to help clients relax, recharge and feel cared for.

The move to Maitland was a major undertaking, and everyone came together to make it happen. "Our team made the dream a reality within a week," Brandy said. "It was labour intensive, but our new location is gorgeous and we have so many options to grow together."

That team has been a key part of the spa’s success. Staff members Lara McNish, Carole Holmes, Victoria Zeron, Mackenzie Murdock, Miles Valentine, Jenna Kennedy, Jennifer Wyman and Joan Burns all contribute to the welcoming environment. Carole has been with Heavenly Touch since day one, 22 years ago. Front desk greeter Lara is known for her warm welcome and provides relaxation massage. Brandy credits the team’s genuine care and connection with clients as one of the spa’s greatest strengths.

"The benefit now is the rural lifestyle feel," Brandy said of operating in Augusta Township. "The calmness of this location sets me, and our visitors, at ease."

The new location is also creating opportunities for collaboration. Directly across the road is Maison Maitland. Brandy and owner and chef Cynthia Peters have created packages for visitors looking to combine luxurious overnight stays with dining and wellness experiences. The spa is also working with local suppliers, including Luster and Lore, a new soap company from Athens.

Future plans include opening the property’s outdoor wellness spaces, including a pool, hot tub, cold plunge and sauna. The rear veranda will provide space for activities such as yoga, meditation, art instruction and other wellness-focused events.

As Heavenly Touch Spa continues to grow, Brandy’s vision remains focused on providing exceptional service, supporting local businesses and creating a destination where people can slow down, reconnect and leave feeling refreshed.
