Greetings!

In a time of contrasts, as I write to you, we celebrate the appointment of the first Black woman Supreme Court justice, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. At the same time, Roe v. Wade’s future is at stake and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, with the threat of nuclear war, is concerning us all.

With midterm elections nearing, WILPF members continue their work seeking to strengthen our democracy and advocating for peace, for racial, social, economic, and climate justice. 2022 is a busy year for us! We are also growing by intentionally sharing leadership with younger and more diverse women.

I hope you can make a generous contribution today to support our work.

We could not do this work without you. Our work today is informed by relevant ‘herstory’ about WILPF’s peace advocacy and translated into current solidarity actions.

Walking the Walk and Talking the Talk of Peace for 100 Years
Jane Addams, one of WILPF’s founders and first US president, wrote about WILPF’s members’ unwavering commitment to peace in 1922, amid similar escalating tensions:

“...it seemed to me… that all of our members in their daily walk
and conversation had been bearing unequivocal testimony
against war and its methods.”
– from Peace and Bread in Time of War

Now in 2022, we remember our foremothers’ legacy and say:

“The situation in Ukraine and on the international scene shows us
that, once again, war cannot and will never be a solution for
peace and stability….”
– WILPF’s International’s Official Statement — March 1, 2022

Our Response

On March 6, we held a national peace action with many WILPF US branches organizing in their communities. Find sample letters to write and other resources to make our case for peace under the information about the Disarm Committee on our Roundup.
Will you help us continue to “walk the walk and talk the talk” for peace and justice? Please donate today.

Emily Keel (left) of Triangle Branch NC, and Rev. Rowan Fairgrove (right) of our San Jose, CA Branch are WILPF US Liaisons with the PPC.
2nd Solidarity Action
WILPF Triangle Branch (NC) member, Ashley Carrington (right) developed a new Voting Rights Toolkit (VRT) that offers clear instructions for individual branches to help educate voters before the midterms.

For over a hundred years, WILPF members like YOU have changed the world! Our ‘Roundup’ offers ways to get involved... and more ways we’re working for peace.

In this time of uncertainty, we know times are tight. Yet I count on you to invest in peace and to say NO to more wasteful war funding, NO to refugee suffering and deaths, and NO to threats of nuclear cat and mouse.

Each dollar is so appreciated. Thank you for your support!
In love, gratitude, and solidarity,

Darien De Lu
WILPF US President
