State Flag
Governor Tate Reeves signed House Bill 1 into law in a ceremony on Monday, January 11th, officially changing the state flag of Mississippi. After the signing ceremony at the Two Mississippi Museums, Governor Reeves and members of the Commission to Redesign the State Flag brought the flag to the Capitol and presented it to Speaker Gunn and Lieutenant Governor Delbert Hosemann. A large crowd of legislators, media members, and others watched as the new flags were raised over each chamber of the Capitol.
Week 2 Mississippi
Legislative Overview
This is the second week of the 2021 legislative session. Because it is still early in the session, bills are still being drafted. Therefore, floor action has been light. However, more than 200 House bills have already been filed and referred to committees. Committee work will begin this week. Bills must be passed out of committee before they are considered by the full House. If a bill gets through the House committee and the House floor, it will then have to pass through both the Senate committee and Senate floor debate.

Covid-19 Vaccine
Hey Mississippi Delta, I just want to settle as many folks as possible as it relates to the vaccine. Above, there is a photo of Supervisor Jacorious Liner and I getting vaccinated at Bolivar Medical Center on last week. Thanks for the push Jacorious. I must admit, I was very leery to get vaccinated, at first. However, after talking with my family, medical professionals, and others I trust, I discovered the factual reasons to take it and dispelled the myths that would have prevented me from taking it. Not trying to push anyone, but if you are thinking about taking it, listen to as much expert advice as you can and make up your own mind.

I had to visit Jackson State University on Friday. There is nothing like the feeling of an HBCU (Historically Black College & University) campus.
