One of the best things about the holiday season is it means we get to watch our favorite seasonal movies. Like this one!
Highlights from Iwo and Karolina
We had an action-packed three days with our November Musicians-in-Residence, Iwo Jedynecki and Karolina Mikołajczyk!
It all started on Tuesday, Nov. 28 with pop-up performances around Eastsound....
...at Ray's Pharmacy,
Darvill's Bookstore,
and Island Market. Then it was off to Orcas Hotel, to warm up with a view...
and to entertain the attendees of our
Intimate Evening with Karolina and Iwo concert and dinner.
Wednesday was Lopez day!
First, Karolina and Iwo performed in the Lopez High School Gym for all students of Lopez and Decatur Island Schools.
The Lopez High School Orchestra got their own session, followed by a lovely late afternoon Community Concert at Lopez Island Library.
Thursday was another full day, starting with a performance for the full student body of Shaw Island School.
They gave a lesson on how the accordion works and received a lesson on ukulele from the students. (they caught on really quickly!)
Lucky passengers on the afternoon interisland ferry got a real treat.
Their residency ended with a packed house at the Deer Harbor Community Club.
Thank you to Karolina, Iwo, all our sponsors for the visit, and to all who listened to the music and gave this wonderful duo such a warm welcome!
Next up - WindSync!
We are thrilled that WindSync will be returning to Orcas Jan. 30 - Feb. 1! The wind quintet will give school performances, offer a winds workshop for local musicians on January 30 at 4:00pm and a concert on January 31 at 7:00pm. Mark your calendars now and stay tuned for further details.
