Principal's Welcome

Dear Pittsburgh CAPA Community,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at Pittsburgh CAPA. I hope you enjoyed a summer vacation filled with fun, rest, and meaningful time with your loved ones. As the school year begins, we are thrilled to welcome our returning families back and to extend a warm greeting to those who are joining the CAPA community for the first time. This is a vibrant, dynamic place where students are encouraged not only to learn, but to dream, express, and discover their full potential.

This year, I am excited to continue our journey of cultivating creativity, deepening academic engagement, and nurturing the unique voices and talents of every student. At CAPA, our mission is to provide an environment where rigorous academics meet artistic excellence—a place where each child’s individuality is honored and celebrated. Our dedicated staff is committed to helping every student grow, thrive, and feel seen and supported.

We believe that strong partnerships between school and home are essential to student success. As we look ahead to a year filled with learning, collaboration, performances, exhibitions, and new challenges, we invite you to stay connected and engaged. Together, we can ensure that your child experiences a joyful, meaningful, and transformative school year.

A few reminders:

Laptop Distribution

Every student at CAPA receives an Apple MacBook; Current student laptops were collected at the end of last year and will be redistributed during the first two weeks of school. Current students should have retained their computer chargers and cases. New students will receive chargers with their MacBook.

All students must abide by the acceptable use policy. Students who violate the policy or deliberately damage their devices, will be issued district Dell Laptops as replacements.

Late Work

Work submitted after the due date will not be eligible for full credit. Point deductions will be progressive based on the date turned in. Late work will not be accepted after two weeks. Please refer to your child's instructor for their specific late work policies.

Cell Phones

In accordance with school district policy: Cell Phones should not be visible and are NOT to be used during class time. Texting, making phone calls, posting on social media, and recording  video, etc. is not permitted at any time during the school day and will lead  to disciplinary action in accordance with the student code of conduct. During breakfast, lunch or the change of classes, students may use cell  phones to play games, check grades, check Schoology, etc

Academic Integrity/ Plagiarism

CAPA emphasizes academic excellence and it is crucial that students' work represent their own best effort. Cheating on exams or representing other's work as their own, including the use of AI, will result in a zero credit for the assignment.
