November 2024 Edition

Let Us Give Thanks and Rejoice!

The month of November gives us so many opportunities to look at our lives and recognize the many gifts God has provided for us. We know that the word Eucharist comes from the Greek word for thanksgiving. May each Mass in which you participate be an act of thanksgiving on your part for all the love God showers on you.

All Saints Day and All Souls Day

Many people connect with one saint or another as they strive to live their Christian lives. They try to emulate the goodness, generosity and love of our forebearers in the faith. Some of those saints are canonized and celebrated in the Church calendar each year; others are those near and dear who have shown how to live the love of Jesus into the world up close and personal. Who are your saints to whom you look for inspiration and courage in meeting the demands of everyday life? What is one special way for you to honor them this month? Can you create your own litany of the saints?

Let's also remember those who have died recently that they may be open to the great love which God offers to them. As we pray for them, let's also pray for those who mourn their passing from this world to eternity.

Election Day

On November 5, we can be thankful for the gift of democracy, which allows us to vote for our leaders. Below is a checklist based on Catholic Social Teachings. May it help us in determining which candidates' positions best support the common good. Let us exercise our right and our responsibility and vote. Let's encourage others to do the same.

National Vocation Awareness Week

November 3 - 9 is the annual celebration of Vocation Awareness Week. It is a time for us to pray for all who are discerning their life calls, how they can best serve Jesus and spread his love in our world.

Are you wondering about a call to religious life? The Sisters of Notre Dame Vocation Team is working with many women around the world who are interested in exploring this call and learning more about discernment.

No matter what your call in life, we are happy to help in your discernment process. If you want to be added to a list of faith sharing, retreats, and other opportunities for discerners, contact us at vocations@sndusa.org.

Veterans Day

We pray for all of our veterans who truly put their lives on the line for all of us. Thanks to those of you who served in our military! God bless you for the sacrifices you made.
