CASITA COLONY RECREATION ASSOCIATION

VILLA MONTEREY III

Letter From the Vice-President

Holiday Greeting Homeowners,

The holiday seasons are upon us creating a sense of fellowship for our family and community. We have some important information to convey and upcoming events the  entire community needs to be involved with.

First is a CALL TO SERVE. VMIII needs YOU! We have two/three board positions this year that need to be filled. We invite all interested persons to submit your name and a small biography to Elizabeth Rehling to be placed on our ballot. Deadline is December 1st. We also need volunteers for several committees. Please contact the board members via email with your interest.

Second is our community rules, regulations, & bi-laws with regard to ownership, resident, and occupant definitions.  While the VMII documents are written to be clear and concise, we are facing confusion from the community and need to define clearly for everyone how the community as a whole is to be governed. During the most recent board meetings we have heard discussion from our community citizens about allowing family members, friends, & others (IE home sitters, dog sitters and the like) to be allowed to visit and/or stay without a 55 plus owner/resident in the home for a duration of less than 30 days. Karen Fleming and Kate Monroe completed a small sample survey of 12 residents and presented to the board several options for our consideration. These considerations must be presented to you as it means a quorum decision from all homeowners and changes to our governing documents. The board respectfully requests a review from all our residents of all the documents regarding this subject which can be found on the website. We welcome your thoughts via email to the board.

Here are a few updates and reminders.

  • The cabana bathroom floors will be updated with slip proof texturing for added safety.
  • The 2024 budget will be presented at the next board meeting
  • The 2024 annual packet and vote ballots will be arriving mid December.
  • VMIII Holiday party is December 9,2023  @ 3-5PM, please RSVP by Nov 23 to Sher at 480-339-9770  or   lilredsher@gmail.com

Thank you all for your attention & special thanks to our board members, alternates, and committees members for your service!

Finally, A closing thought from a fellow resident...

The word community has a definition and meaning. For me, as related to our HOA, community means a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing a common space, attitudes, interests, and goals. The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members. The strength of the community is each individual member. The strength of each member is the community. We cannot live only for ourselves, our own interests, our own goals as we are connected to our fellow community members in thousands of ways. We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. We are a diverse community with various interests. Real diversity and inclusion doesn't mean that we will always agree. It means that even when we disagree, we can still respect each other and work together for the strength of the community.

I will end with a quote from Helen Keller. “ Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
