Tired of Manually Assembling? Learn How Newell Brands Transformed Productivity with Robotics
Newell Brands, a global leader in consumer goods, with iconic brands like Rubbermaid, was faced with the challenge of increasing productivity, consistency and accuracy in their 850,000-square-foot facility—500,000 square feet dedicated to manufacturing and 300,000 square feet to warehousing.
Pain Point: Manual Assembly Bottlenecks
At the heart of the Rubbermaid consumer product set was a 100-foot-long conveyor line, relying on 15–20 operators to manually assemble product kits. With a growing demand for precision and speed, the company needed a more scalable, ergonomic and efficient approach.
| | |
The Solution: Robotic Assembly Automation
| |
Now, with 10 robots, the product kit assembling system:
· Handles up to 80% of set volume
· Improves order accuracy and quality
· Enhances operator ergonomics
· Reduces failure rates and packing errors
Cycle Time & Throughput
The robotic cell processes products at two different cycle speeds:
- 4.5 seconds per cycle → approx. 800 parts/hour
- 6 seconds per cycle → approx. 600 parts/hour

BAMA Hosts Exclusive Theory of Constraints Seminar for Manufacturers with Rami Goldratt
BAMA is proud to host the Theory of Constraints Flow Solutions Seminar, an exclusive event tailored for manufacturers, featuring renowned expert Rami Goldratt. The Theory of Constraints (TOC) is a management philosophy that focuses on identifying and addressing the most significant limiting factor (constraint) within a system to improve overall performance. Developed by Eliyahu M. Goldratt, TOC emphasizes that every system has at least one constraint that prevents it from achieving more of its goals. By systematically improving this constraint, organizations can achieve significant performance gains. This in-depth seminar will explore practical flow-based solutions to help manufacturing leaders unlock productivity, reduce lead times, and enhance operational performance using the proven principles of the Theory of Constraints.

Opening Government Contracts to Diversify Your Revenue Streams
BAMA and the National Center for Responsible Government Contracting hosted a session on July 23 at USF , featuring Andy Bennett, PMP, and Ryan Kanne from the U.S. Commercial Service. Attendees learned how to break into the government contracting space, with a focus on navigating federal procurement. Manufacturing Safety in the Workplace – OSHA Update by:

American Society of Safety Professionals
The Trump Administration’s plan for curbing federal spending includes reducing OSHA’s operational budget by about 8% for Fiscal Year 2026. The Labor Department’s $582.4 million budget proposal for OSHA seeks $50 million in savings, primarily through staff reductions. Last month, the Secretary of Labor, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, testified before the House Appropriations Committee that the budget reduction will modernize and streamline OSHA operations to focus on delivering economic prosperity for all workers. Critics argue that the cuts will jeopardize worker health and safety.
According to Chavez-DeRemer, the proposed FY2026 budget would not affect OSHA’s current level of enforcement, inspection, or investigation activity. Nationwide, OSHA conducted 34,625 inspections in 2023. In 2024, OSHA conducted 274 inspections of Florida workplaces. The implications for workplace health and safety remain subject to ongoing debate. However, it is reasonable to expect that existing and new proposals for workplace safety regulation will be stalled or cease entirely. Florida business and industry should stay informed with future developments at OSHA, since Florida does not administer a State-run workforce protection program and relies on the Federal OSHA program.
