Parents often think that they will talk to their kids about important topics when they feel they are ready. But often that might be too late. The kids are hearing and seeing things earlier each year! We must talk to them before they are at risk for problems. These conversations should be short and happen regularly to build their resilience. Does your child identify a "go to" person who he or she feels comfortable talking to? Parents are often these trusted adults but not always. Make sure your child has someone they can talk to when they need to talk!!

AlElle Constantine is the author of Educate Before Eight and four children’s books focused on early drug prevention. Through stories that encourage confidence, friendship, self-worth, and healthy decision-making, Elle introduces age-appropriate conversations that help children understand the importance of making positive choices.

Her published works include Will We Always Be Friends, The Town That Says No to Drugs, What Makes Me So Special, and What Makes Me So Smart. Each book was created to help children develop the confidence to resist unhealthy influences, recognize their own value, and understand that their choices matter.

These books reflect Elle’s lifelong commitment to prevention education and her belief that children need the tools to make healthy decisions before they encounter pressure. Her work continues through Educate Before Eight, an early childhood prevention program designed to build emotional regulation, communication skills, boundaries, decision-making, and refusal skills from the earliest years.
