Message from Mayor Kapszukiewicz
I know I will be repeating myself from last week, but I want to thank everyone who is helping to flatten the curve by staying home unless it is absolutely necessary to go out. We cannot stress this enough. Yes, this is a difficult time, but we will get through this together. We are working with our partners on the county and state levels to help small businesses and we are maintaining services to the residents of Toledo.
Again, you can read a list of city and other services affected by the pandemic at this link .

I also want to thank everyone who already completed the 2020 Census. If you have not, please do so. It has never been easier. Visit  2020Census.gov  or call 844-330-2020.

The video in this week's newsletter is my second "Wire Side Chat" and focuses on the census and the importance of staying home. (I want to thank my wife Sarah for bei ng a good sport about this video.)

We will be making adjustments to the city budget in response to the COVID-19 crisis, including a hiring freeze that has already taken effect for all city operations.

I thank Council President Matt Cherry, and all of council, for working collaboratively with the administration. The joint administration - City Council budget task force has already met virtually on proposed adjustments to the city budget caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. There are a number of options being considered, and right now, everything is on the table. We are looking at every fund balance.

I again urge everyone to follow the state’s stay at home order and to follow the health department’s guidelines for preventing the spread of this virus.
