Partner Agency Spotlight

Welcome to the United Way of Gordon County's September Newsletter. We have many events this month and hope this newsletter helps to spread the great works of our Partner Agencies and Businesses where we work and live together #United4Gordon.

United Way of Gordon County mobilizes communities to action so all can thrive.

United Way of Gordon County is a leader in bringing donors, volunteers, and community organizations together to solve critical problems in our county. We invest in three key areas: ensuring youth have the support and experiences needed for a successful life and career, increasing the number of financially stable households providing a safety net for vulnerable populations, and striving to improve and sustain the community’s overall health and wellness. We leverage community resources and monitor results to maximize donor dollars.

We know that together, those challenges that seem insurmountable can be achievable. We know that to change lives, we have to connect with the community and challenge everyone to LIVE UNITED!

This year's Unity Run 5K has been dedicated to the memory of Betty Butler. Betty was an avid walker who competed in more than twenty Unity Runs. She won her age division for the last time in 2022 at the age of 83. Betty walked ten miles a day, six days a week. She is an inspiration for staying fit and active, which is what Unity Run is all about. We are honored to dedicate this year's race and our annual races here after to her memory.

This family-friendly event brings the entire community together. This year will have a Groovy 70s theme. Racers and spectators are encouraged to dress the part with prizes awarded to the most Groovy racers. Our event DJ will be spinning Groovy tracks for your enjoyment to help everyone get in the groove. Vendors and kid activities will also be on-site. There will also be food and drink items available for purchase before and after the race.
