Superintendent's Message

Dear Families and Community,

It was another great week in Culver City Unified School District! As we continue through the school year, I am pleased to see the outstanding teaching and learning taking place across our campuses, the professional growth of our employees, and the many opportunities for our families and community to come together in support of our students.

This week, I had the opportunity to visit Culver City High School and stop by several professional development sessions focused on the arts and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). It was wonderful to see our educators collaborating and strengthening their instructional practices to better support student learning. I also joined several of our Board members for Walk to School Day and want to thank all of our students and families who participated in this important event promoting healthy habits, safety, and community engagement.

Another highlight was visiting El Rincon Elementary School as part of our Instructional Rounds, a strategy we implemented this year to support administrator learning and provide meaningful feedback to school leadership. During our visit, we observed second-grade students actively engaged in mathematics, using a variety of mathematical practices to deepen their understanding. Thank you to our second-grade teachers for opening their classrooms and sharing the excellent learning taking place. We look forward to continuing Instructional Rounds at other schools throughout the district.

I am also looking forward to attending Noche de Familia tonight, as we celebrate Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month. Events like these provide wonderful opportunities to recognize the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of our families while celebrating the diversity and unity that make CCUSD such a special community.

October also brings several important recognitions that will be reflected in proclamations on our upcoming Board agenda, including Disability Awareness Month, LGBTQ History Month, National Bullying Prevention Month, Week of the Administrator (October 12–18), United Against Hate Week (October 18–24), Indigenous Peoples Day (October 12), and National Native American Heritage Month (November). Collectively, these recognitions remind us of the importance of celebrating our differences, honoring the contributions of others, promoting kindness and inclusion, and ensuring that every student, employee, and family feels valued, respected, and connected to our school community. Our diversity is one of our greatest strengths, and together, we are stronger.

If you missed our State of the District presentation, I am pleased to share that the video is now available for viewing below. I encourage you to watch and learn more about our district's accomplishments, progress, and priorities as we continue working together to ensure excellence for every student.

Finally, our next Board of Education meeting will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the District Office Board Room. Closed session will begin at 5:00 p.m., with open session beginning at 6:30 p.m. Please visit our district website to review the agenda and items scheduled for Board consideration.

As always, we recognize that families have choices when it comes to their child's education, and we are grateful that you have entrusted us with serving your students. We remain committed to providing a high-quality educational experience and to partnering with you every step of the way.

With Gratitude,

Dr. Alfonso Jiménez

Estimadas Familias y Comunidad,

CCUSD Inclusion Apparel Sale Extended Through the End of October

October is Disability Awareness Month!

This month, we celebrate the many strengths, talents, contributions, and experiences of people with disabilities while promoting greater understanding, acceptance, and inclusion throughout our community.

Inclusive practices matter because everyone deserves to feel valued, respected, welcomed, and included. When we create schools and communities where everyone can participate, build friendships, learn from one another, and contribute in meaningful ways, we create a stronger community for all. Most importantly, we want everyone in our district to remember one simple but powerful message: EVERYONE BELONGS!

To help spread this important message, CCPTA's Disability Awareness Month Pop-Up Shop is now open! Pick up a shirt, sweatshirt, or other item and proudly wear it around our schools and community as a reminder that inclusion and belonging are for everyone. Get yours today and help us spread the word: EVERYONE IN OUR DISTRICT BELONGS!
