Remote Learning Resources

Parents working from home with kids learning from home. Seeking ideas to support your children's education?

The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators created a  Digital Directory for Remote Learning Resources to  help parents and teachers during the COVID-19 crisis.

SCBWI members prepared online materials to entertain, instruct, and inspire children and young people. Some authors read and discussed their books. Others presented mini-lessons on art, history, or craft projects. Another section included the  equivalent of a school visit. Click the SCBWI resource link above for the full list.

National Library Week
April 19-25, 2020
The theme for National Library Week (NLW) 2020,  "Find your place at
the library," was chosen before the emergence of the global pandemic. To acknowledge o ur altered landscape, the American Library Association flipped the theme. "Find the library at your place" highlights how libraries have offered virtual services and digital content to their communities.

While many libraries are temporarily closed due the current public health crisis, most offer access to audio books, e-books, music and movies. Some are even finding ways to provide programs online, such as virtual story times, book clubs, and crafting sessions.

Fun Facts About the Author
I'm working from home until the end of May. Maybe longer.

I'm healthy and have started a new tween fantasy book.

I've learned the names of neighbors on my street.

I'm watching my roses bloom, birds nest in a bluebird house, and a pesky chipmunk eat bird food from a new feeder. ALVIN!

Write to Calm

When I'm stressed, I write what worries me in my transmission diary. As I press the CLOSE button, I imagine all my problems floating to the stars.

Away, away, away.

Can we write to have a right to be calm?
