Dear Friends,

It’s midsummer already, and LHR is glad to have all sorts of fresh produce from local growers, both farmers and backyard gardeners, and from our generous grocery stores. Did you know that more than 30% of the food available at LHR on any given day is fresh produce? Thanks to the support of our community, we’re able to offer fresh and whole foods to those we serve.

Not only does LHR provide fresh produce to the people we serve, we also act as a produce hub for other direct service organizations. We’re able to pick up and keep the produce in cold storage until other organizations who might have less storage space are ready to distribute it. The produce hub has fourteen registered partners this year. The goal is to move as much fresh food as possible to people who need it through any organization who is able to partner with us.

If you have extra backyard produce, don’t hesitate to drop it off with us! Even a single tomato is useful to a family in need.

Thanks for helping us move the best food possible to our neighbors who need it! Enjoy those summer tomatoes!

Celebrating Rachel Roberts and 750,000 Meals Shared

Earlier this month, LHR celebrated longtime supporter Rachel Roberts—Leesburg’s beloved “Flower Lady”—for raising over $200,000 through her roadside flower stand since 2012. That’s more than 750,000 meals for Loudoun families! Surrounded by loved ones, Rachel was honored at a small gathering where Delegate Marty Martinez presented her with a Commending Resolution from the Virginia House of Delegates. We’re so grateful for Rachel’s kindness, creativity, and more than a decade of extraordinary partnership. Check out more of the story here.

LHR Welcomes Corporate Group Volunteers!

This month we are thrilled to have hosted two outstanding corporate partners for volunteer service events. QTS Datacenters sent 15 volunteers to help us sort our nonperishable food items, and Equinix sent 20 volunteers to help us sort, pack, and stock.

These organizations show us the amazing work that can be accomplished when corporate and non-profit entities work together to meet community needs. Thank you to both organizations for sharing your time, talent, and treasure with LHR!

Thanks to Your Support, We’re Making a Real Impact

The statistics shown here reflect the voices of our pantry visitors—our neighbors in Loudoun County. Because of you, families are accessing the food they need with dignity and care. Your generosity helps us serve thousands each month with fresh, nourishing options.
