The State of the College: Strength and Transformation at LCCC

As Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) enters the Spring 2026 semester, the institution finds itself in a position of remarkable strength and transformation. During the recent Spring Convocation, leadership reported that the "State of the College" is robust, boasting a financial standing that ranks as the strongest among peer higher education institutions.

A primary focus for the college this semester is the continued evolution of student support, headlined by the transition to a "one-stop" enrollment model. This initiative involves cross-training staff to assist students with every step of the process, from application to payment, in a single interaction. This ensures a more seamless and efficient experience. These efforts to prioritize student success are already yielding results as academic impact has reached new heights. For example, December 2025 graduation rates hit their highest levels since 2018, which marks a nearly 40% increase.

LCCC also continues to expand its role as a national leader in workforce development. The college successfully retained its status as one of only four Amazon advanced manufacturing training centers in the country and is forging new partnerships with industry leaders such as AWS and B. Braun to create cutting-edge labs and apprenticeship pathways. Supported by an additional $1.5 million in Pell Grant funds distributed over the past year to ease financial barriers, LCCC is well-positioned to help students achieve their goals throughout the new semester and beyond.

The setting appears to be a formal meeting room at Lehigh Carbon Community College.

At Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC), Career Development is more than just a department; it is a vital part of our student experience. We are extremely dedicated to helping our students "Start Here and Go Anywhere" by providing the essential tools and knowledge necessary for long-term professional success. Every student has the potential to excel, and our mission is to ensure they are fully prepared to transition from the classroom to a rewarding career path.

Through our Student Employee of the Month program, we celebrate the incredible talent and dedication of our students who contribute to the LCCC community. Here are some of our outstanding student employees:

Student Employee of the Month Highlights

September 2025: Caleb Mitchell (IT Department) While working in the IT department, Caleb consistently demonstrated professionalism and initiative, quickly adapting to new tasks and technologies. He is a key member of the team, fielding desk calls with patience and efficiency, and providing outstanding support to students, faculty, and staff. Caleb’s proactive approach and eagerness to learn have not only improved our workflow but have also made him an invaluable asset to our workplace.

October 2025: Klea Tahiri (Admissions Team) Klea has been an exceptional addition to the Admissions Team. Her eagerness to contribute and her dependable support shine through in everything she does. Whether it’s lending a hand at admissions events, leading campus tours, or stepping up for last-minute projects, Klea consistently brings a positive attitude and strong work ethic. She recently stepped up to conduct student tours—a task outside of her comfort zone as an introvert—and she always does it with a smile for our future students and their families!

November 2025: Adam Bachert (Morgan Center) As the dedicated Front Desk/’Jack of all Trades’ worker at the Morgan Center, Adam is truly the cornerstone of the campus experience. Adam sets the standard every day: he always arrives early, greets everyone with a welcoming smile, and serves as a walking encyclopedia of campus knowledge. He is known for his impeccable attention to detail on every task and provided tremendous assistance at all Career Development events both in Tamaqua and Schnecksville.

December 2025: Brian Stach (Science Lab) Brian is a shining example of the ‘willingness to learn’ motto. Despite not being a Bio major, he enthusiastically embraced his lab role, absorbing knowledge and becoming an invaluable resource for the entire division. Faculty consistently note his intelligence and capability, knowing they can rely on him for assistance. Brian approaches every task with service, a smile, and often a clever joke.

January 2026: Pablo Chong (Campus-wide Support) Pablo is a true “jack-of-all-trades” at LCCC. Whether he is working alongside our Basic Needs Community Resource Specialist to support the campus pantry or bringing school spirit to life as our beloved mascot, Clawrence, Pablo’s impact is felt everywhere. Recently, he stepped up as a natural leader, mentoring FE Foundation interns and overseeing daily operations.

The dedication and excellence displayed by these students underscore the mission of Career Development at LCCC. By providing the necessary tools and support, we continue to empower our students to start their journeys here with confidence, knowing they have the foundation to go anywhere.

Alumni Legacy Scholarship Success

The Lehigh Carbon Community College community recently gathered for a truly special occasion—celebrating the recipients of the Alumni Legacy Scholarship. This event was a resounding success, filled with pride and inspiration as we recognized the hard work, academic focus, and community dedication of our standout students. It was an amazing opportunity to honor not only their individual achievements but also the deep-rooted family connections that make the LCCC family so unique.

We are thrilled to share some exciting news regarding the growth of this program. To better support our growing community, the Alumni Board has officially increased the scholarship award from two to four $1,000 scholarships per academic year. This expansion reflects our commitment to making higher education more accessible for the children and grandchildren of our esteemed LCCC graduates.

Each year throughout July and August, the Alumni Board reviews applications from a pool of talented candidates. To qualify, students must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA, demonstrate a strong commitment to community service, and submit a personal essay detailing their chosen academic or career path. Seeing the passion these students have for their future fields is a testament to the enduring value of an LCCC education across generations.

New Resources for LCCC Families

On the right, a graduate in a maroon cap and gown is being kissed on the cheeks by her parents, while two younger children smile in the foreground. On the left, a large QR code is accompanied by the text "SCAN ME" and a curved white arrow. The LCCC logo is placed in the bottom left corner against a dark, blurred background.

At Lehigh Carbon Community College, we know that behind every successful student is a strong support system. To help parents and family members navigate the complexities of college life alongside their students, we are excited to introduce the LCCC Parent & Family FAQ.

This new initiative is designed to take the guesswork out of the college experience. We have gathered the most frequently asked questions from families and compiled them into one convenient, easy-to-access digital hub.

By scanning the "Scan for Answers!" QR code located on campus materials, families can get instant access to essential information, including:

  • Financial Aid & Billing: Stay on top of deadlines, payment plans, and tuition details.
  • Student Life: Discover academic resources, support services, and campus safety protocols.
  • Academic Calendar: Keep track of key dates, registration windows, and withdrawal policies.

LCCC is committed to making the role of a family member as straightforward as possible. We invite you to use this resource to stay informed and empowered as you support your student’s journey toward graduation.
