Highlights from "Monique Week 2022"

October 17 - 21 was a wonderful week for music on Orcas Island as Musician-in-Residence Monique Mead shared her knowledge and passion with a wide variety of lucky students and audiences.
Each day, Monique worked closely with students of all levels at the
Orcas Island Public School.

For her closing act on Friday, Monique entertained those who were waiting out their 15 minute post-shot observation period at the vaccination clinic at Orcas Center.
The Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival and Orcas Island thank you, Monique, for all the learning, music, and fun!
25th Season Highlights!
Over the next few Scherzos, we look forward to sharing some of the many wonderful musical moments from our 25th Season, August 4-20, 2022.

The final work on our opening concert was Felix Mendelssohn's beautiful and rousing Sextet in D Major, Op 110 for violin, two violas, cello, bass, and piano. We know you will enjoy these last two movements of the work, performed by Chee-Yun violin, Toby Hoffman viola, Aloysia Friedmann viola, Olivia Marckx cello, Chad Wesselkamper double bass, and Jon Kimura Parker piano.

You can read the program notes from this work on page 24 of our season program, available here.
We look forward to sharing more OICMF news and events with you — keep your eyes peeled for next month's Scherzo!
All the best,
