Becoming Beloved Community Monthly Gathering
Thursday, October 3, 2024
12:00 noon
Online via Zoom
We warmly invite all members of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi to engage in our upcoming Becoming Beloved Community Zoom Monthly Gathering on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 12:00 noon to explore the powerful narrative shared by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie in her renowned TED Talk, "The Danger of a Single Story."
In this 18:46 minute presentation, Adichie eloquently discusses how the labels and narratives we hold can shape our perceptions of ourselves and others. As we watch and reflect together, we will address thought-provoking questions that encourage introspection and foster understanding within our community. Consider the following as we engage in this meaningful dialogue:
- What is the single story people have about you?
- How does it feel to be boxed into a single story?
- Name a single story you have boxed others into?
- Why is a single story dangerous?

The Investiture of Presiding Bishop-elect Sean Rowe
Saturday, November 2. 2024
starting at 8:30 am CT
Online via The Episcopal Church's Facebook Page
In this historic and joyful season, we invite you to pray for guidance for our church and our new presiding bishop as he leads us in envisioning the reign of God in our midst. Who: Everyone is invited!
What: The Episcopal Church will officially welcome the Rt. Rev. Sean Rowe as its 28th presiding bishop with a smaller, simpler investiture service aimed at reducing carbon footprint and increasing churchwide virtual participation.
When: Nov. 2, with a prelude featuring a “roll call” of dioceses starting at 8:30 am CT. The service itself starts at 10 am CT.
Where: The service will be livestreamed on this page and on The Episcopal Church’s Facebook page. A recording will be posted and distributed after the service.
How can I participate? Churches, dioceses, small groups, seminaries, and other Episcopal communities are encouraged to organize watch parties to participate in real time with Episcopalians around the world.
