SIXTH & SEVENTH GRADE ENJOY A ROMAN BANQUET
The Roman Banquet made its comeback today since pre-pandemic days! This year, both Sixth and Seventh Grade students dressed in togas and spent their lunch recess under the cypress trees whilst enjoying a "traditional" Roman-style feast and entertainment by Upper School Latin students. What a treat!
SIXTH GRADE MUSICAL PHOTOS ARE HERE
Last week, Sixth Grade students performed the Tam Lin musical put together by Director Dana Caldwell, Vocal Director Alyssa Morhardt, & Choreographer Kateri Ransom. Everyone's hard work made for a fabulous performance!
SEVENTH GRADE "TAKES ACTION" IN THEIR LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
On Tuesday, May 30, Seventh Graders organized and participated in the inaugural Laguna Leadership Conference. As part of their fourth quarter theme of “Taking Action,” students were tasked with performing a campus-based improvement inspired by UN Sustainable Development Goal 12 (Ensure Sustainable Production & Consumption). Students invited guest speakers Nicholas Millington and Andrea Zommers from Sonos and Vicky Tsai from Tatcha to present about how their companies embody the spirit of Goal 12.

For the second half of the conference, Seventh Grade students welcomed our Fourth Grade students to Hope Ranch and presented the findings of their actions via interactive booths in Ruston Amphitheatre.

Great work, Seventh Grade!
EIGHTH GRADE TRANSFORMED INTO ELEMENTAL AVENGERS
As part of their study of the periodic table, eighth graders transformed into Elemental Avenger characters yesterday. Using the characteristic properties of their assigned element, students presented their superhero/villain name, their backstory and super powers (gas can slip through small cracks), their elemental allies, as well as their sworn enemies or other elements that weaken their element (oxygen turns iron into rust), and much more. What a fun and creative way to understand the periodic table!
LAGUNA STUDENTS IMPRESS AT I MADONNARI ITALIAN STREET PAINTING FESTIVAL
I Madonnari Italian Street Painting Festival was held at the Santa Barbara Mission this Memorial Day weekend. Our talented Laguna student artists Nikki Mielcarek '24, Grace Trautwein '24, Pengyu "Sam" Wang '25, Jesus Arriaga '24, and Olivia Paigie Sofranko '27 created a beautiful display of a colorful owl. Students worked together to complete the piece using their various styles and interpretations of the owl form. The five students spent 6+ hours using soft pastels on the asphalt in front of the SB Mission. A Laguna family generously donated the sidewalk space at the festival. Go Owls!
CELEBRATE LGBTQ+ PRIDE MONTH
A great way to celebrate and acknowledge LGBTQ+ Pride Month is by reading literature with a meaningful and diverse representation of LGBTQ+ people. We chose books that feature stories of different LGBTQ+ people of different ethnic and racial backgrounds, contain affirming and supporting messaging, and have positive relationships. Stories that feature this important representation are supportive of youth and families who identify with the stories, or they act as windows into identities and experiences different from your own.

FOURTH GRADERS VISIT SANTA CRUZ ISLAND
On Wednesday, the Fourth Grade Class embarked on their annual field trip to Santa Cruz Island. With a naturalist guide, students explored the island with all of its rich history and natural wonders. They saw a large pod of dolphins, island birds, and the highly anticipated Island Fox. This year, the students were fortunate enough to see an Island Fox pup, basking and rolling in the sun. The class also took in breathtaking views on their hike, and had lots of fun riding the waves on the way to and from the island.
