Happy Thursday, Church!
Well … it is Monday afternoon and it seems I am finally feeling like I have digested all of the chili I ingested at our Chili Cook-Off. What an incredible time we had just sittin’ around, enjoying great food (15 pots of chili), laughter, new and old friends, raffles and crafts. Our church leadership, along with others went above and beyond to provide us with an experience in true fellowship. It was so much fun. Love was bouncing off the walls. Congratulations to our Best Chili Winners. We are always on the lookout for new folks to join our fellowship efforts, so don’t be surprised if someone asks you the next time we are making plans. It really is a wonderful time.
We said goodbye to our beloved Brandon on Sunday. He has been such a gift to me and to all of us. His theological prowess always kept me on my toes. I learned new things as I watched him for over three years, mold our instrumentalists into one of the best bands in the city. And I also got to watch him and Kendra in what can only be described as a seminar in good parenting. I know that God will do wonderful things through Brandon and Kendra at Kensington Community Church.
So … where does that leave us? Well … let’s just say … worship will happen every Sunday at 9:15. With Mike at the keyboard, Bernie on Guitar, Jeff on bass, and the other Mike on drums, we are going to forge on. At least until after the holidays, I will return to some of my musical roots, directing our faithful group of singers. If you have ever thought about participating in worship music and leading, this is a perfect time to come and give us a try. Everyone is welcome to join us on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. We rehearse and learn music for about an hour. The great payoff is in the solid relationships formed, the prayer that is offered, and the music we prepare to lead God’s people. Until Sunday, rest in the knowledge that you are loved. I love being your pastor.
Holding you close and lifting you high!
Pastor Greg

Daylight Savings is coming to a close, so don't forget to turn back you clocks on Saturday night!
| | All Saints Sunday, November 1, 2026 | | This coming Sunday promises to be a very moving time of worship and remembrance. Together, we will honor all the “saints” in our lives. Those people who were a big part of making us who we are … The people who inspired us, led us, protected us; the saints who shared with us the amazing news of Christ. There will be moving music, a slide show of our saints and a special “bouquet” created to bring in our “great cloud of witnesses.” You will not want to miss this special day. | | Coyote Bush | Samaall Kwsiyaay | | While I can't hand you a sprig of coyote brush through the computer or phone screen, I've found the next best thing. The students at Cal Poly Humboldt have created a 3D Digital Herbarium full of 3D plant models. They took fresh samples of plants, photographed them from many different angles, and used computer software to stitch them together and create 360 degree views of them. The button below will lead you to a model of coyote brush that offers just such a 360 degree view. | | Upcoming Events & Weekly News | | To everyone who was able to attend the Chilli Cook-Off - Thank you for spicing up our day! | | |
Border Church
On Sunday November 8th at 12pm, we will carpool from our church to Border Church, which meets outdoors at 1:30pm until about 2:30pm. “Every Sunday, friends from San Diego, Tijuana, and around the world gather for our weekly celebration of binational communion at Friendship Park, the historic meeting place on the US-Mexico border. Somehow, the border wall mysteriously becomes a table for communion, where all are welcome.”

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Congregation and Beyond…
On behalf of the Outreach Ministry, we’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Community Church of Poway congregation, and the local community for your continued support of our American Red Cross blood drives, since August 2022.
We are grateful to everyone who has rolled up their sleeves to donate, to those who thought they couldn't give blood but discovered they could, to those who show up to each drive because they are life long donors, and to the wonderful volunteers who help transform our beautiful Fellowship Hall into a space where the Red Cross can work its lifesaving magic—and then lovingly put everything back together again!
Every donation, every helping hand, and every word of encouragement has made a difference. These blood drives are a beautiful example of our church family coming together in service to others, demonstrating that even a simple act of kindness can help save a life. And this outreach into our local community provides the opportunity to show who we are.
Thank you for your generosity, your willingness to serve, and your compassion for people you may never meet. Thank you to those who are unable to donate for whatever reason, as you continue to support this effort with your kind words and love.
Together, we are making a meaningful difference, one pint and one person at a time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Outreach Ministry
Community Church of Poway

Blessings from the Outreach Ministry
Thank you so much for your gifts of baby items for the Foundation of Women Warriors! We are delivering those items the first week of November for their baby shower for service women and veterans in need.
Now our Basket of Hope will become the Basket of Thanksgiving Hope! This year we will again bless 10 families with all the ingredients to make a tasty Thanksgiving dinner, including a gift card to purchase a turkey. The Thanksgiving basket is item specific. You can help us by choosing one or more tags off our Thanksgiving board. Then bring your items by November 22 so we can create the Thanksgiving Bags!
Thank you so much in advance for bringing joy and sharing God‘s love with our neighbors.
Happy Thanksgiving!
The Outreach Ministry
