Football Recap: DLS vs. West Florida
Louisiana Sends Florida Home!
This article was written by senior Luis Pineda. Thank you Luis!
The De La Salle Cavaliers played the West Florida Jaguars at Pan American Stadium on October 18. The Jaguars started with the ball to begin the game. They tried to run it through the middle but senior linebacker Ashton Robinson (#2) rejected it very quickly. Senior Jacolby Hankton (#11) intercepted the ball early in the game. Junior Ja’marian Peterson was a threat to the defensive line by deflecting the ball and making the Jaguars’ backfield nervous. Running back Montrell Johnson had a hat-trick with three touchdowns.
Every good running back has a good offensive line. Shoutout to Micheal Ellis, also known as Big Mike (#71) for getting some reps on the field. The special team unit was smooth as well. Kicker Ian Helmke (#38) didn’t miss a kick on this night. This marks another Louisiana team beating a Florida team with the Saints beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the LSU Tigers defeating the Florida Gators. Go Cavs!

One Book for Social Justice: Enrique's Journey
De La Salle's Journey to Social Justice
De La Salle students were required to read Enrigue’s Journey by Sonia Nazario. The book was based on a true account of a migrant’s journey through Central America to the United States in the hope of reuniting with his mother, who left him to venture north in hope of creating a better life for her family. Students were required to focus on their assigned chapter and prepare for a discussion.
