Planning & Preparation for New School Year

The CCDO team is busy planning for the new school year which starts 1 November for Cambodian students.

Our Education Department has switched English text books from Family & Friends to Hang Out. This will be exciting for all as the methodology is new and more efficient.

There is also an online version of the book and both teachers and students will be excited for the new, interesting, and colorfully illustrated program.

New School Toilets

Thanks to the support of Rotary Club Sentosa, who have secured another Global Grant we have begun constructing another five school toilet blocks which will hopefully be completed in the next 3 months. This will bring the total of school toilets to 54 serving over 32,000 students.

Scholarship Student Graduated

Congratulations to our scholarship student Miss Pov Pharum who dedicated six years to her Food Chemistry studies and achieved her dream by graduating this summer.

She also has a good job as Food Quality Controller in the SV.CY (Cambodia) IM-EX Co., Ltd. A huge Thank You to Nate & Amanda Tucker for supporting her these years.

“I want to share with you an important update about my life. When I was in high school, I dreamed of becoming a food engineer and today, I am so happy to tell you that I have finally graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Food Chemistry. This year has been both challenging and rewarding, filled with many lessons and personal growth. Without your support and encouragement, I would not have reached this milestone.”

Visitors

Abe Jacob and Ryan Ng of RC Sentosa, Singapore made a quick visit to CCDO. They inspected the school toilets constructed under previous Global Grants (GG10 and GG11). The visit was highly successful, with a warm welcome from both school principals and teachers. All inspected toilets are in good condition—clean, functional, and hygienic.

Donors

CCDO is grateful for our longtime supporter, Paul Schrieber, who heard that our Digital Literacy Program was in jeopardy and immediately donated $8,000 to keep it running for 2026. Ensuring that the teachers and school principals efficiently use their computers and learn the details of important platforms such as MS Office, zoom, emails and learn how to keep track of students with Excel and make their own flash cards. We are proud to help bring rural teachers up to speed on use of technology in schools and not lagging behind their city colleagues.
