Manufacturing:
"Way to contribute to social advancement"
Brook A. came to the United States from Ethiopia in the 1990s. He completed a degree in mechanical engineering technology at Point Park University, but found it hard to find a job.
After working a few years for UPS, a counselor passed along a list of referrals to job opportunities. New Century Careers was among them. Years ago, Brook worked with tools and saw them as a means to provide food and other essentials through an ordered process and a way to contribute to social advancement.
The Manufacturing 2000 curriculum fed his interest in precision manufacturing and provided a basic knowledge of machines in a self-paced format with experienced instructors. NCC’s M2K digitized curriculum using a tablet for step-by-step reference is an exciting option, he said.
During his training, Brook has earned several NIMS credentials, an industry standard, that will transfer job-to-job. Aerospace manufacturing is where he hopes to land a job.
“Manufacturing is a continuous job creation sector that provides an ample wage and lasting career,” Brook said. “Through careful learning and discipline you can produce excellent results and advance your own career.”
