THIS WEEK IN HOUSTON

April 22–26, 2026

Houston’s art scene unfolds across the week with a layered mix of conversations, openings, and shared experiences that build into a full weekend of activity. From midweek talks to a dense lineup of gallery receptions on Friday night, the city’s creative energy moves between dialogue, material exploration, and community gathering.

Friday also marks the debut of Undercurrents by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer at the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern—an immersive chamber of voices, light, and memory set within the cavernous underground space, with multiple performances running almost daily through January 24, 2027 (keep an eye out for upcoming poetry readings, too). Tickets are $12–$15 (details here).

In addition, Friday kicks off the 19th annual Latin Wave Film Series at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Check out the lineup of new movies from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay, and get your tickets here.

This week truly invites you to move through Houston at your own pace, discovering moments that are as expansive as they are unexpected.

Hope to see you out and about,
