Thursday Morning Social Hour Continues at Compo Beach

Y's Men gather at the Compo Beach pavilion for coffee, bagels and donuts last Thursday.

Even though the guest speaker portion of Y's Men Thursday morning meetings has taken a hiatus until September, the social hour part continues with coffee, bagels and donuts from 9:00 to 10:00 am every Thursday. Unlike previous years, the gatherings will be at the Compo Beach Pavilion, not at Sherwood Island which is undergoing renovations.

Please plan to attend tomorrow. Nearly 100 Y's Men showed up at least week's gathering.

If you don't have a parking permit, just tell the gate attendant that you are there for the Y's Men event.

The Social Hour Committee has asked for help in improving our visibility at the beach this season. If you have a beach sticker on your car, please consider driving that vehicle to next week’s Social Hour. Having more stickered cars on site helps present a clearer picture of Y’s Men's participation and supports our ongoing efforts with access and permits. Thanks for the help.

Fiction Book Club Discusses "The Remains of the Day" Tomorrow

Kazuo Ishiguro's "The Remains of the Day," for which the author won a Nobel Prize in Literature, will be the book up for discussion when the Y's Men Fiction Book Club meets tomorrow (Thursday, June 18) at 1:30 pm in Room 211 at the Saugatuck Congregational Church.

All Y's Men and guests are invited to attend either to observe or, if they have read the book, to participate in the discussion.

Carlos Fuentes's "The Old Gringo" will be the book members will discuss at their meeting on Thursday, July 16. The Group meets regularly on the third Thursday of the month at the Church, same time and room number.

If you are interested in attending or would like additional information, contact Y's Man Chris Lewis at celewis14@gmail.com.
