Hammy is home!

Greetings!

After 6 weeks with us, stealing all our hearts, Hammy found his forever home!

His mom came to visit him after seeing he had been here the longest. It was love at first sight, and she brought him home, where he's already settled in and living his best life. He goes by Moon now, middle name Hamster.

She shared, "He is just awesome. He loves to play with his toys. He is a super snuggle bug, he particularly likes to sleep under the blankets in bed, or on his back on the sofa.

He has been nothing but gentle with my special needs son. He has learned quickly to not follow my son outside and to not steal his food. He’s also learning more leash etiquette!!! He enjoyed a bath already. He seems quite happy and comfortable. He prances around like a little kid." More photos of him at home here.

Speaking of happy endings, all our dogs went home last weekend! Valley, Prosecco, and Diana all found loving homes.

Thank you for helping us share Hammy and all our residents with everyone you know. Your love makes all the difference in helping them find their happiness.

Halloween Safety Tips

Spooky season is upon us! Here are some tips to keep your pets safe during Halloween festivities.

Only pet safe treats: Chocolate and xylitol (an artificial sweetener) can be deadly for pets. Make sure halloween candy is stored somewhere safe where they can't get into it.

Not everyone loves Halloween: Unless your dog is extremely social and wants to help greet trick-or-treaters, keep them away from the front door and all the activity. Give them their favorite bone or chew toy to help them pass the time.

Costumes: Only dress your pets up if they enjoy it. Don't force them to wear costumes if it causes stress. Be mindful that human costumes may have small pieces that can be dangerous if ingested.

Pet identification: Make sure their ID tags and microchips are up to date in case they get lost.

Animal Trivia is Back!

We're excited to share that our popular animal themed trivia nights are coming back to the Marina! Our first one is November 18.

Animal trivia covers the whole animal kingdom and all the wild, amazing and quirky ways animals survive and thrive.

It costs $20 per person to play all four rounds. There are prizes at the end of each round, and a grand prize for the team/individual with the most points at the end.

No need to register, just come and play!

Last chance to share your pet photo for a $10 donation!

Subaru of New England's pet photo donation campaign is coming to an end, but there's still time to participate to earn us much needed donations!

For every photo or video you post on social media in October using the hashtag #SNELovesPets, Subaru of New England donates $10 to WCHS, up to $6,250.

Most recently, we asked to see your orange cats. We'll post a couple more prompts to inspire you this week, but you don't have to wait for us to post.

Let's finish strong and earn WCHS the full donation! Thank you!

With kindest regards,
