Día de los Muertos

Honoring Loved Ones & Planning for What Matters

Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a time to honor those who came before us. It also reminds us that talking about what matters most is a gift to the people we love.

In that spirit, we’re partnering with Thriving in Place, the San Francisco Supportive Care Collaborative, and Latinx community leaders to bring culturally tailored advance care planning to the Bay Area, with funding from PCORI.

New PCORI Award for a Pragmatic Trial

Dr. Sudore and Erin Kross at University of Washington will lead this five-year randomized trial of English and Spanish speaking older adults from 25 primary care clinics to test the combination of PREPARE plus the clinician-facing Jumpstart conversation guide.

New Publications

We are excited to publish this JAMA commentary, “Facilitating Real-World Advance Care Planning,” with longtime collaborators Drs. Anne Walling and Neil Wenger. We highlight a landmark study by Dr. Kim Johnson and colleagues demonstrating the power of culturally tailored advance care planning to reduce disparities in Black communities.

Thanks to Our Partners

We are grateful to the McElhattan Foundation, the Stupski Foundation, and the Y.C Ho Helen and Michael Chiang Foundation for its generous current support of PREPARE.
