2022 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

scholastic_awards_logo_rgb_DS.png

This is the 99th year of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards that celebrate creativity and encourage self-expression among our nation’s teens. The Awards were founded to provide a platform honoring creative teens on their achievements with the same enthusiasm for which student athletes are recognized.

More than 100,000 teens from across the U.S. and Canada entered more than 260,000 works of art and writing. Nearly 2,000 works received National Medals this year. Of those, congratulations go to our Delaware students who received four Gold Medals; one Silver Medal with Distinction; and 13 Silver Medals. The full list of winning works can be searched by name, school, geographical region, and award type in the link below.

Grantee Alert: Government System Transition

The federal government has transitioned from the use of Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) to a new Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) through the SAM.gov system as the primary identifier. This new UEI is required of state, regional, and local agencies, along with nonprofit organizations that receive federal funding. The new UEI is also required of subgrantees of state, regional, and local agencies.

Beginning in April 2022, all organizations that currently receive funding, have received funding in the past, and are planning to apply for future funding from the Delaware Division of the Arts are required to have a Unique Entity ID (UEI) from SAM.gov in alignment with requirements from the National Endowment for the Arts. Individuals applying for Division funding do not need to create a UEI.

Note that obtaining a SAM UEI is free. Other state arts councils are getting reports of scammers offering to "help" organizations get SAM UEIs for a hefty cost -- please delete and ignore these emails. They are scams.

For further information about obtaining your new UEI, please refer to the recording of the General Services Administration's November 3rd webinar (below), or access the accompanying slide deck. The webinar covered both how to get a UEI through SAM without requiring a full SAM registration and how to update your existing DUNS number to a SAM-provided UEI.
