Memorial Students Explore Their Futures at the Annual College and Career Fair

It’s never too early to start thinking about the future—and students at Memorial Junior High are already taking that step. This week, Memorial hosted its annual College and Career Fair, giving students a firsthand look at the many paths available to them after graduation.

Throughout the day, students visited exhibitor tables to learn about careers, colleges, and the skills needed for success. Representatives included local restaurant groups, first responders, a Cuyahoga County judge, a nurse, and even a filmmaker. Colleges such as Cuyahoga Community College, Ashland University, and Case Western Reserve University also joined the event to share information about programs and opportunities.

Students eagerly asked questions, collected information, and made connections that could help guide their future interests. The fair is designed to help students start thinking about their goals early, whether they envision college, a career, or another pathway after high school.

Events like these reflect Memorial’s commitment to preparing students for what’s next—by inspiring curiosity, building confidence, and helping each learner imagine a bright future ahead.

Share Your Voice: Join an SEL Schools Focus Group

We'd like to invite families and community members to join a small focus group conversation about communication, engagement, and belonging in the South Euclid-Lyndhurst Schools.

Your perspective matters and this is a chance to help shape how we connect with families and our broader community. These conversations will be safe, open spaces for honest discussion, where every voice will be heard and respected.

To allow for meaningful dialogue, each group will be kept small and registration will be limited.

Two sessions are available (both will be held at the Administrative building on Mayfield Road):

  • Monday, December 1, 6-7:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, December 2, 6-7:30 p.m.

To help facilitate focused discussion, we ask that childcare is arranged.

If you’d like to participate, please complete the Focus Group Registration Form.

Brush NHS Food Drive

The annual Brush NHS Food Drive has begun.

While our students collect non-perishable food items at school, we invite the larger Brush community to contribute grocery store gift cards that will go directly to local families in need. Anyone looking to donate can send in or drop off gift cards to Brush High School, c/o Jill Strainic. Call (216) 236-4646 with questions.

Brush Alumni Shining at the Division I Level

Brush High School is proud to recognize nine former Arcs who are currently competing at NCAA Division I institutions across the country. These student–athletes continue to represent Brush with pride, hard work, and dedication—both in the classroom and in their respective athletic programs. Their accomplishments serve as an inspiration to our current students and a reminder of the strong foundation built right here in South Euclid-Lyndhurst Schools. Once an Arc, always an Arc.

From the PTA

Meal-in-a-Bag Food Drive

SEL PTA Council, in partnership with the Lyndhurst Democrat Club, is sponsoring a Meal-in-a-Bag Food Drive to support families and individuals in our community who may be affected by the government shutdown. Anyone who would like to participate can assemble a shelf-stable meal and drop it off at the South Euclid Community Center through Wednesday, November 12.

Anyone in need of a meal can come to the South Euclid Community Center on Friday, November 14 from 5-6 p.m., or until meals run out, whichever comes first. Meals will be distributed from the back of the community center. Please drive or walk to the back door facing Victory Park.

How Meals-in-a-Bag Works:

Each donation should include only shelf-stable ingredients needed to prepare one complete meal along with the recipe of how to make the meal. Place items in a grocery bag with the name of the meal on the outside of the bag.

Examples include:

· Pasta, sauce, canned vegetables

· Rice, beans, and seasoning packets

· Soup ingredients (broth, noodles, canned vegetables, canned chicken)

This is a wonderful way to help families during these trying times. Thank you for your generosity and support!
