At Youth Advocate Programs (YAP®), Inc., we understand the challenges facing today’s students, their families, and the school systems that serve them, including academic learning loss, trauma, truancy and the impacts of community violence. Our school-based services empower students with the skills and knowledge to transform their lives and communities and to thrive inside and outside of the classroom.

The University of Chicago Crime & Education Labs and YAP will be presenting research findings and strategies found in our innovative Choose to Change® and YAP Pursuing Excellence ® models which combine trauma-informed therapy with wraparound support. These models address behavior and attendance and are proven to reduce youth violence and trauma while improving educational outcomes.
