FULGENT: Some Answers, More Questions
At the regularly scheduled Coalition of County Unions (CCU) meeting on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, a presentation/informational exchange was provided by representatives of the County and Fulgent. Long awaited answers to many questions presented by this poorly executed implementation of the COVID-19 Mandate policy were provided. Additionally, requested documents from the failed negotiations of September were also provided such as:

During this meeting, written responses to questions posed by CCU members were discussed and clarified. Unfortunately, even with these discussions and answers, many more questions were identified, of which PPOA and the CCU are awaiting responses from the County.

In keeping with our commitment to provide the most current and accurate information to our membership, PPOA hosted a ZOOM meeting with members on Thursday evening. This meeting presented information from the previous day's “Fulgent” meeting as well as provided a question and answer session with President Tab Rhodes, Vice-President Jim Blankenship, and legal counsel Jim Cunningham.

In addition to the Fulgent information above being discussed, questions regarding the “exemption” process were posed. Having only received information from PPOA members, of the Sheriff Department’s intentions, PPOA has requested Meet and Confer negotiations on impacts with the Sheriff’s Department as well as the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation and Department of Medical Examiner- Coroner.

As the next phase of the impasse process with the County continues, PPOA will continue to stand with our CCU partners against any terms of a vaccine mandate which threatens discipline and the employment rights of our members.

We thank all of those members who participated in the ZOOM meeting as well as those who continue to call/email info@ppoa.com with valuable insight into the activities of our employers.

Your participation in our union is paramount to PPOA’s success.
