Trinity Weekly News

July 9, 2026 | Trinity Episcopal Church, Staunton, Virginia

Happy Thursday!

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the Fourth with us: Friday's Eucharist, Saturday's concert, Sunday's talk with Bill Frazier and Tom Howell, and our Sundae Sunday ice cream social! If you'd like to revisit Bill and Tom's talk on Trinity's history and our Generation to Generation campaign, it's up on our YouTube channel.

We are in the throes of summer, but we have a couple of good reasons to gather this week:

First, the timely one. Game night is tomorrow, Friday, July 10, at 6 pm in the Parish House. Pizza and snacks are on us! Bring a favorite game if you have one, though we'll have plenty on hand. Come with a competitive streak or just for the good company. This is an all ages event! The more folks who turn out, the more tables we can get going, so bring a friend!

And looking a little further out: we're down to just a few Masses on the Grasses (n., plur. of Mass on the Grass) If you've been meaning to come, consider this your nudge. If you're already a regular, keep it up. Bring something for the grill and a side to share, and we'll celebrate the Eucharist together in the open air.

There are a few more ways to get involved this season too. More info below.

SUMMER FORMATION CONTINUES

Beginning this Sunday, July 12, coffee and conversation groups return to the 9:15 hour for the rest of the summer. Small groups will dig into the Sunday lectionary and get to know one another better over coffee and cookies. The nursery is open from 9 am if you have little ones. No sign-up needed, just drop in whenever you can!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!

Seeking Teachers

We are seeking teachers for the 2026-2027 year—one week-to-week teacher for Crafting Faith, our class for elementary students, as well as subs who can be available to rotate through our age groups (Godly Play, Crafting Faith and Triniteens). These are the hours that shape how our kids know God—come be part of them!

Seeking Docents

Trinity’s docent ministry is growing, and we are seeking more people interested in learning about our grounds well enough to show them off. Docents lead tours for visitors curious about the architecture, the history, the churchyard, all 280 years of it. Tell the real story behind the Tiffany windows instead of just pointing and saying “aren’t they pretty!” Two training sessions are set for July: July 21 or July 28, both 2-3:30 pm. Can’t make either one? Additional trainings are planned for September.

Register for one of the dates in July here: bit.ly/trinitydocent

If you'd like to learn more about teaching Sunday School or becoming a docent, contact Rev. Cara! caram@trinitystaunton.org or 540-819-3953

Seeking Greeters

Some walk through our doors Sunday morning knowing exactly where they're going. Others don't. The Greeter Ministry is for parishioners who want to help newcomers find their footing at Trinity.

Greeters arrive a few minutes before the 10:30 Eucharist, welcome people at the door, and stay present after the service for anyone who has questions or just needs a friendly face to orient them. For someone walking in unsure, being seen matters more than almost anything!

If you’d like to be that person at the door, contact Katie at communitylife@trinitystaunton.org or 580-579-8493.

TRINITY IS HIRING NURSERY WORKERS

Sunday mornings and, in the fall, Tuesday evenings. $16.50/hr. Must be 18 or older and pass a background check. If you're interested, give Ana a call, or send the info along to someone who'd be a good fit!
