As Summer Comes to an End

August has a way of reminding us that change is always happening. Summer is beginning to wind down, routines are shifting, and before we know it, the leaves will start to change and fall will be here.

For many of us, this season of transition can bring a mix of emotions. There may be excitement for what’s ahead, but also sadness for what we’re leaving behind. Sometimes life changes in ways we expected, and other times it takes a completely different turn.

Whatever this season looks like for you, you don’t have to rush through it. Take a breath. Give yourself grace. And remember that God is present—not only in the new beginnings, but also in the endings, the waiting, and everything in between.

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1

Grief Awareness Month

August is Grief Awareness Month, and we want to take a moment to recognize something that can be a very real part of the embryo adoption journey: grief.

For parents with remaining embryos, there can be a lot of emotions wrapped up in the decision of what comes next. Maybe you’re grieving the end of your fertility journey, the family you once imagined, or simply the difficult reality of having to make a decision about your embryos. It’s okay if that decision brings both peace and sadness.

For families and individuals hoping to become parents, grief can also be part of the journey. The waiting, infertility, loss, unanswered questions, and dreams that haven’t happened yet can be heavy. You can be hopeful about becoming a parent and still grieve what your journey has looked like along the way.

There is no “right” way to grieve, and no timeline for healing. Some days may feel hopeful, while others may feel harder. You don’t have to have all the answers or have everything figured out.
